How Is Trump 2020 Campaign’s State of the Union Plan Even Legal?!?!
Whether it is spiking membership prices at his Mar-A-Lago luxury resort following his election as president or using every possible photo op he can to gain free advertising for his various properties around the country, President Donald Trump has found yet another way to make money off being president.
According to a text message sent out to Trump supporters on Monday, the names of people who donate money to Trump’s 2020 re-election bid will flash on screen as Trump delivers his first State of the Union address Tuesday night.
“The State of the Union speech is not about me. It’s about YOU. Which is why I will have the names of every supporter who contributes today broadcast during my speech on the official DJT for President Livestream.”

While the Trump campaign says it is offering the publicity to “show how many Americans are dedicated to our movement,” I have no doubt that there will be some who donate money to the campaign just to see their name broadcast for millions to see.
I’m not sure if this is legal. I assume someone with legal knowledge who is close to Trump would notify his campaign if it were not legal. Then again, I would have assumed a lawyer would have also advised Donald Trump Jr. not to meet with a Kremlin-connected puppet during the 2016 campaign. Given the campaign’s track record, forgive me if I’m a bit skeptical in the Trump campaign’s ability to abide by all campaign and campaign finance laws.
