Nancy Pelosi Makes In-Kind Contribution to the NRCC

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi seems oddly determined to assist the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) with their efforts to re-elect House Republicans, doubling down on her comments that the bonuses companies have been paying their employees after the GOP tax cut bill are just “crumbs.”

As we reported earlier, at least 355 companies across the country have announced they will give their employees pay raises, bonuses, increased contributions to 401(k) plans, improved health insurance and other benefits. Pelosi and her fellow Democrats have been scrambling to find a way to minimize this news as the 2018 midterms approach.

Despite the ridicule Pelosi’s “crumbs” comment got — one Indiana Republican Congressman even named his bill to make these bonuses tax-free the “CRUMBS Act” to mock her — Pelosi did not hesitate to embrace the word again during a press conference yesterday.

“Their predicate is this tax cut, which is everything to them,” Pelosi said, according to the Washington Examiner. “It’s in their DNA that they will have trickle down, tax cuts at the high end.”

“A banquet for everyone up here. Crumbs for people down here. I’ll repeat that,” she said, clearly aware of the criticism.

The NRCC may wish to send Pelosi a thank you note. Polling regarding the tax cut bill continues on an upward trend, and Republicans have taken a lead for the first time this election cycle on the generic congressional ballot, 39 percent to 38 percent for the Democrats, with 23 percent undecided.
