President Trump’s Tweets About the FBI’s Meddling in Politics…and He’s Exactly Right

While a lot of you were asleep, President Trump was tweeting his #HotTake on the soon-to-be-release memo prepared by the House Intelligence Committee

Both of these are pretty close to bland statements of fact. But it is the top one that is the most depressing.

Via released documents we know that the top investigators of Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of email were actually afraid to investigate because they thought she was going to win and they were afraid of the repercussions to the FBI if they did a real investigation and she was elected:

We know that James Comey, aka Professor of Ethical Leadership, began preparing his memo exonerating Clinton in May when she wasn’t interviewed until July.

We know that Andrew McCabe–and possibly James Comey unless you believe McCabe hid this information from his friend and mentor–sandbagged the secondary investigation concerning classified information being stored on Anthony Weiner’s laptop for three weeks.

We know there was palpable bias against Trump at the upper reaches of the FBI.

We know that the FBI leapt at the chance to use and promote the Trump dossier compiled by former British spy and Fusion GPS subcontractor Christopher Steele.

If you want to call all of that coincidence, feel free. But when you have a string of decisions all running in the same direction, that is, to aid the Clinton campaign, then rational people have to assume there just might be come connectivity.

Because Trump did tweet a quote from Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch, rather than write his own tweet, one has to assume that Trump, at least, thinks the memo is going to show what Fitton claims.

All in all we are left with a picture of the nation’s premier law enforcement agency choosing winners and losers in a presidential contest and working to make their preferences happen. This is wrong. And it has the added virtue of being illegal. At a minimum, the FBI needs a thorough housecleaning. People who were involved in either decision, to exonerate Hillary Clinton in advance or to use the Trump dossier without full disclosure to a FISA court of the provenance and issues with the document really need to be terminated.

The beast has tasted blood and it won’t stop killing of its own volition.
