Warning over Cornwall's economy, job market, wages and productivity

 In news which is sure to surprise everyone that lives in Cornwall, Cornwall now ranks as the worst in the UK for productivity. The workforce of the Duchy is low skilled and is amongst the worse paid of the UK. The solution put foward is “release the brakes holding back living standards and economic growth”, so we can rest assured that any problems will remain and multiply. In the report published by Localis, Cornwall was singled out as having the worst productivity of the UK, the rate of Cornish productivity being £23.74 compared to London’s £43.55.

Also, 53% of respondants to the Localis survey feel that they have little to no financial benefit when the national economy is growing, whereas 48% feel little to no financial benefit when their employers are doing well financially. 61% of people feel that their hard work isn’t rewarded to them by their employer, 47% believe they are paid less than their work is worth.

So the report finds that Cornwall is left behind by the rest of the UK (we know, noone cares), the county being too characterised by its industrial past (the little that remains) ,Without significant intervention from central and local government, there is a risk it will slide further away from the rest of the country. As Cornish people have been screaming for decades. The report has its sceptics though, mainly those who live in mansions, and those that recieve a great deal of funding from private and public sectors who are saying how brillaint Cornwall is. What will the place be like in 10 years time? Which fairytale will we be living in?
