How likely are we to be treated to a series of panicked tweets attacking this U.S. attorney for recusing himself?

Geoffrey Berman is a Trump appointee to the Southern District of New York. He has recused himself from the investigation into President Trump’s longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

The recusal was said to be approved by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian collusion. The Monday FBI raid on Mr. Cohen’s office was said to be based on a referral from the special counsel’s office, but not directly linked to the Russia probe.

Not directly.

Because of the recusal, Berman was not involved in the decision to raid Cohen’s office.

As it is with most recusals, Berman saw the likelihood of an ethical conflict that would harm the integrity of the investigation.

This will be another hard pill for Trump to swallow, considering his insistence on loyalty from those he appoints or who serve under him. It doesn’t even have to have anything to do with Trump, but he’ll see this as a betrayal.

Interestingly enough, it may have been Trump’s own, big mouth that prompted the raid, after he commented on the Stormy Daniels controversy aboard Air Force One last week. He basically threw Cohen under the bus.

Now, Cohen may be under investigation for bank fraud, wire fraud, and campaign finance violations, according to sources.

Berman might need to get used to having his name smeared on social media.
