Watch: Ted Cruz Is All Class As a Woman Throws Him an Eye-Roll Worth Insult

Say what you will about Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), but the guy is one of those politicians that receives a bizarre amount of hate on par with that of VP Mike Pence. Despite this, Cruz manages to handle every confrontation with a level of class and calm that many probably wouldn’t be capable of.

On Tuesday, the Texas senator was confronted by a woman named Tammy Talpas who read of a pre-written statement. She told Cruz that she had multiple pre-existing conditions and would either be bankrupted or “killed” by Cruz’s idea of creating separate insurance pools for high-risk patients, allowing those who are not high-risk to have their own, lower cost pools.

After reading off her statement, Talpas finished by asking Cruz if he would submit to a DNA test to prove he’s human.

“Will you pledge to submit to a DNA test to prove that you’re human?” asked Talpas.

Ted Cruz responded with pure class, as usual.

“Well, m’am, thank you for that, and one of the great things about our democratic system is we can treat each other with respect and civility,” Cruz answered.

The woman, however, either didn’t pick up on Cruz’s obvious point, or didn’t care.

“Is that a yes or a no?” she pushed.

“Ma’am, if you want to engage in insults that’s your prerogative, but I’m not going to reciprocate,” replied Cruz. “Thank you for being here, ma’am.”

Cruz then walked away as the woman continued to tell Cruz it was a yes or no question.

That Cruz has to deal with this level of crazy is sadly part of his job, but it’s a waste of time and energy for the senator who could be better answering questions that will actually help people understand him or his plans better.

But these people aren’t asking these inane questions because they want to learn something. They’re asking them because they feel like doing so is sticking it to Cruz, and it’s a story they can tell their friends and post on their Facebook walls. They feel they’ve really struck a mighty blow for the Resistance by being rude to Cruz.

In reality, they look more like The Simpsons’ Ralph Wiggum when he thinks he’s “helping.” It’s eye roll worthy at best.
