Disney Fired Roseanne and Hired Keith Olbermann – Check Out the Contrast

Roseanne recently came back with a vengeance: to TV, to the culture. And she brought with her that most unacceptable of things: support for Donald Trump.

Therefore, it was, to be sure, unnerving to the mainstream media to see her show revival’s numbers soar.

Certainly, any opportunity to shut down the, not even pro-Trump show, but even merely Trump-sympathetic show…would be welcome and jumped upon.

This morning, they saw their shot and they took it.

Roseanne tweeted an insult to someone, as people on Twitter often do.

The Left immediately referred to it as an objectively racist message.

Page Six ran the story, “Valerie Jarrett responds to Roseanne Barr’s racist comments.” People Magazine trumpeted, “Valerie Jarret Reacts to Roseanne Barr’s Racist Tweet…” CNN went with “Roseanne canceled after star’s racist Twitter rant.” The New York Times claimed “Roseanne Barr Incites Fury with Racist Tweet…” Another publication called it “a racist tirade.” Still another said, “Roseanne Barr tweets viciously racist comment about Obama Advisor…” Time wrote, “Valerie Jarrett Responds to Roseanne Barr’s Racist Tweet.”

No doubt, she will forever, in media circles and among the Left, be called a legitimate racist.

But was it? Racist?

If so, what is racism?

I was under the impression that racism is when someone is judged solely according to their race.

Roseanne did no such thing.

She did, however, insult someone.

But was it racist?

Perhaps it was an attack on former Obama advisor Jarrett’s looks. It should be noted that Jarrett — who was born in Iran — is not black, but multiracial. According to Wikipedia (I know — not exactly The Encyclopedia Brittanica, but I don’t work for Ancestry.com), her father is black and her mother is a quarter black. She is also French, Scottish, and American Indian.

So why was the tweet racist?

It was racist, in addition to other reasons according to the Left, because Roseanne openly supports the leader of the Fourth Reich, Donald J. Trump.

Personally, I have no interest in her tweet; she insulted someone, and to me, that is between the two of them. But Disney decided differently. They concluded if anything expressed by one of their employees is, according to Disney head Bob Iger in a statement, “inconsistent with their values,” then cancellation is the “only [right] thing to do.”

From Channing Dungey, President of ABC Entertainment: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”
There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.

Is that really Disney’s policy?

Two days ago, the Mouse hired Keith Olbermann for its ESPN network.

Here are a few of Olbermann’s past tweets to the President of the United States:

“F*** you @RealDonaldTrump Nazi Nazi f*** Nazi Nazi RACIST Nazi BIGOT go f*** yourself f***ing Nazi f***ers.”

“Any of them mention to you that we had a Domestic Terror attack a week ago today and you still won’t call it what it was, you cowardly f***?”

“YOU are the leaker, you stupid, pea-brained, motherf***ing traitor. RESIGN.”

“What needs to be replaced is THIS motherf***er. Today. This morning. NOW.”

(to Ivanka) “Then tell your racist, white supremacist, neo-nazi father to get the f*** out of our society.”

“GO F*** YOURSELF @REAL DONALD TRUMP.”

“You and @POTUS can go f*** yourself, you racist Nazi f***s.”

“You will not destroy this country, @realDonaldTrump. Go f*** yourself.”

“ICYMI: So we’re clear, this is where this F***ing lying anti-Democracy F*** lied to the American people, with no F***ing quote F***ing marks twitter.com/realdonaldtrump…”

“Honest to God, @realDonaldTrump – shut the f*** up.” #Resign”

“TO HELL WITH YOU, YOU MOTHERF***ING TRAITOR.”

Are THESE the values Disney believes in?

How does their existence cast a light on Roseanne’s firing?

Had half of these been tweeted toward Obama, would Olbermann have been hired? Or would he have had to hide under a rock for a few decades?
