Kindness: Taylor Swift Delivers Dress Rehearsal Surprise to 2,000 Foster Children

Taylor Swift has received a lot of grief for not using her celebrity platform to get political. The demands for her to use her star-power to validate the politics of certain people in this country is not just selfish, it’s woefully shallow and pathetically narrow-minded. There are so many other worthy causes and issues on which to use one’s celebrity influence that have nothing to do with the way anyone votes.

Take foster care, for instance. The United States is in the midst of a quiet foster care crisis. As the nuclear family decreases, displaced children have increased. With religious-based organizations like Catholic Charities being put out of business more and more for refusal to violate their religious conscience in their charitable workings, opportunities for needy children to find dependable foster care have drastically decreased. Add to that the red tape and bureaucratic corruption of the government foster care system and it’s just a mess.

T-Swift recently used her stage to thank those families who choose fostering as their way to give back to their communities, and to delight the children who depend on those foster families.

On Saturday night she invited 2,000 foster children and their families to Arizona’s Cardinal Stadium where she was set to launch her “Reputation” stadium tour. There she treated the fans to a two-hour dress rehearsal. Her guests were also treated to pizza and allowed to roam all over the impressive sports stadium.

The special gift to her foster family fans came after she spent the day at an AZ burn unit, visiting an 8-year-old fan who had suffered terrible burns after a fire pit accident.

According to many grateful parents, the 28-year-old not only performed the full two hour long show but stayed an extra three hours to take photos and sign autographs for every kid while shouting them all pizza.

‘Thanks @taylorswift13 for allowing us to be the first to see your #reputationtour!,’ tweeted out one father.

‘For foster/adoptive families she gave us a private show, freedom to roam around the Cardinals stadium, bought everyone pizza, picture with us, and everyone got an autograph. Our girls love you!’

And the love didn’t stop there with another mother revealing that her daughter was left on ‘cloud nine’ and unable to sleep after the experience.

While other celebrities are melting down over Kanye West’s #MAGA-madness and the lawful assembly of gun-owners at the NRA’s annual meetings, Taylor Swift did something that will actually have a positive impact on the lives of people who could use as much positivity as they can get.

The foster care shortage is a silent epidemic in a nation that is only interested in “sensational” charity. #MeToo can’t condense it into a red-carpet ribbon. Kudos to T-Swift for using her fame and fortune for something worthwhile, without demanding that every other celebrity get on her level or suffer public humiliation and disfavor.
