Nancy Pelosi Trying to Convince America that Having More Jobs Is a Bad Thing

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

True to form, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is taking the absurd route, and attempting to convince the American people that the recently released jobs report that shows a good uptick in job growth is somehow a negative thing for America.

The May job report shows an uptick in 223,000 new non-farm employment jobs in April, as well as a 3.8 drop in unemployment. This is apparently bad, according to Pelosi, who is of the mind that because some families still aren’t making enough money, the Republicans have done America wrong with their tax cuts.

“May’s jobs report shows that strong employment numbers mean little to the families hit with soaring new costs under the Republicans’ watch,” Pelosi wrote according to the Daily Caller.

How that is worse than more people being jobless and not making any money, Pelosi, as per the usual, neglected to explain.

What she did do, however, was attempt to turn the people’s attention away from the fact that more people are lifting themselves out of poverty, and focus on healthcare. Turning the panic up to 11, Pelosi prophesied doom for the elderly and sick kids as she railed against rising premiums…oddly without mentioning that Obamacare had already done exactly that.

From the Daily Caller:

“Republicans’ cruel, cynical health care sabotage campaign is already spiking families’ premiums by double digits and pushing millions off their coverage, according to the nonpartisan CBO. Big Pharma continues to hoard the benefits of the GOP tax scam, using their handouts to further enrich executives and shareholders instead of lowering prescription drug costs for seniors and sick kids,” Pelosi wrote.

Further, Pelosi said the Democrats are committed to getting people better jobs and wages in a statement meant to cast shade on the Republican tax cuts, which are doing exactly that.

“Democrats know that the American people deserve A Better Deal, with Better Jobs, Better Wages and a Better Future. We are committed to creating millions of new good-paying jobs and raising wages, lowering the soaring cost of living for families and giving every American the tools to succeed in the 21st Century economy,” Pelosi wrote. “Democrats will never stop fighting for the hard-working middle class families who are the backbone of our nation.”

Perhaps Pelosi missed the headlines that have been dominating computer screens for months now, but the Republican tax cuts opened up an entirely new world of job opportunities, benefits, and bonuses. These are the same things that Pelosi has been calling “crumbs” ever since the passage of the GOP tax cuts, which brought the corporate tax rate down from 35 percent to 21.

Basic economics states that if businesses get to keep more of the money they made, they will use that money to grow. Growth means hiring more people. More people having jobs means more money flowing through the economy. I’m going to assume Pelosi is at least somewhat aware of this fact and is still banging that very unpopular drum because she needs the Democrats to have that kind of economic victory.

The problem is that Democrats can’t. They’re tax raisers, not cutters. Pelosi said as much recently when she cheerfully told an audience that she’s going to raise taxes the moment Democrats take enough power back.

That’s not going to help get many Democrats elected, but Pelosi’s hatred of the GOP seems to have blinded her to what the people actually want and focuses more on the “what’s bad for the Republican party is good for the country” thought process. It’s a short-sighted one.

But Pelosi’s blunders ever since the passage of the GOP tax bill’s have been monumental and embarrassing. Pelosi has proved time and again that she’s woefully out of touch with what the American people want, and this will likely cost Democrats in the midterms.
