Sorry CNN, but Sarah Sanders Is More Trusted Than the Media

Press Secretary Sarah Sanders has a good habit of being brutally honest with the press, and that brutal honesty sometimes makes them look like fools.

They need no help from her, however. CNN, for instance, has a long and proud history clowning itself through ultra-biased reporting and Jim Acosta, the White House press activist.

During Tuesday’s press briefing, Sanders cut them down again.

“Frankly, I think my credibility is probably higher than the media’s. And I think that in large part, that’s because you guys spend more of your time focused on attacking the president instead of reporting the news.”

This caused CNN’s Chris Cillizza to pen an op-ed telling Sanders that no one is trying to attack her.

“What’s even worse is Sanders’ remarkably cynical attempt to spin reporters doing their jobs — asking an official White House spokesperson about an obvious misstatement — as having some sort of a vendetta against her,” wrote Cillizza.

“I get it,” he continued later in the article. “Demonizing the media — even when that demonizing makes absolutely no sense — has been a winning strategy for this White House. Donald Trump cries “fake news” about stories that are 100% accurate but that he doesn’t like. Senior counselor Kellyanne Conway touts the value of “alternative facts.” And Sanders casts herself as the victim of a media campaign to “tear” her down.”

Except she is constantly under attack by the media.

Michelle Wolf attacked her appearance and called her a liar during the White House press correspondence dinner. Chelsea Handler called Sanders a “whore.” Cher tweeted that she dresses like a “sister wife.” She is consistently mocked and ridiculed by the media and the left, often in ways they would scream to the rafters about in terms of sexist targeting if the roles were reversed.

Thing is, Sanders is correct. She is more trusted than the media. As first pointed out by the Daily Caller, Sanders wins in a narrow victory over the media according to MediaPost’s Research Intelligencer.

“Asked who is more credible, 51.6% of American adults surveyed by Research Intelligencer and Pollfish said Sanders is vs. a close minority of 48.4% who said the journalists who cover the White House are.”

Cillizza thinks that the press is often just doing their job when they confront Sanders, but too often come off, as Acosta too often does, as someone there trying to accomplish a political goal. Hardly does this kind of “hard reporting” ever appear when a Democrat is sitting in the Oval Office.

Over time, more people are just going to end up trusting the woman fending off the personal attacks while dealing with a clearly biased press.
