Welcome to Tuesday’s edition of Redstate’s Water Cooler, the sites only open thread where Tuesday is dedicated to the ongoing culture wars and this writer gives you the jackass Lefty of the week and six stories- in no particular order- of the insanity of the social justice warriors.

Jackass of the Week

No, I’m not going with the obvious- Samantha Bee- and her feckless comment about Ivanka Trump.  Instead, this week’s dubious honor goes to Sally Field (a/k/a Gidget, a/k/a The Flying Nun) for her Twitter defense of Samantha Bee when she said:

“I like Samantha Bee a lot, but she is flat wrong to call Ivanka a c*nt.  C*nts are powerful, beautiful, nurturing, and honest.”

Such language from Gidget…

Chelsea’s Take on Trump

Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton had some choice words about Donald Trump in a recent interview with The Guardian which begs the question why they would want to interview her in the first place.  In anticipation of a one-day visit to London in mid-June, Ms. Clinton said:

“If I lived in Britain, I would show up to protest, because I don’t agree with what’s he doing to degrade what it means to be American…”

Interesting words from the daughter of the man accused of rape at worst and unwanted sexual advances at best, not to mention the fact her mother was twice rejected by America.

Michael Moore Crawls Out From Under (a Very Large) Rock to Make a Threat

In the wake of the Roseanne Barr controversy, noted potato chip eater Michael Moore went to Twitter to say this:

“I know Roseanne.  And I know Trump. And they are about to rue the day they knew me…”

This can mean only one of two things.  Either Moore is going to make yet another fake documentary, OR Michael Moore is going to eat Roseanne Barr and Donald Trump whole.

Early Indocrination

Retail giant J. Crew has started a new fashion campaign designed for young boys where they sport pink T-shirts with the words “I am a feminist too” emblazoned on the front.  They said 10% of the profits will be given to an organization Girl Up. There is no word yet whether J. Crew will have pink p*ssy hats available for boys in time for winter.

The Inherent Racism of Square Dancing

Unbeknownst to this writer, 28 of 50 states count square dancing as the official dance of their state.  That has not gone unnoticed.   Said one Lefty website:

“But the institutionalization of square dancing isn’t just about the joy of dance.  It’s also about America’s legacy of racism and anti-Semitism- and the surprising tools that get used to uphold whiteness.”

So there you have it!  The next time you swing your partner and dos-si-do, remember you are just a closet bigot perpetuating racism and anti-Semitism.

You Can’t Even Joke On a Crowded Elevator Anymore

Attending a conference at the San Francisco Hilton, Richard LeBow, a professor of politics at Kings College in England, asked to be left off at the ladies lingerie department- a common joke on crowded elevators.  This did not sit well with Simona Sharoni, a professor of gender studies at Merrimack College, reported this obvious example of an insensitive male patriarchy comment to the International Studies Association. That prompted a statement that such comments do not reflect the values of the Association.

Big Brother is Your Fellow Student

The University of Kentucky has a unique method to take down “hate speech” on campus.  They are encouraging students to report any incidence of what amounts to hurt feelings to the Bias Incident Response Team.  According to their own guidelines, “hate speech” is defined as “any activity that intimidates, demeans, mocks, degrades, marginalizes, or threatens individuals or groups.”  Further, the incident can be “intentional or unintentional.” The Response Team is made up of members from the university’s campus police, administration, counseling services and diversity office.
