Democrats Try to Subpoena Trump/Putin Interpreter; and Some Really Cool Breakdancing

On Thursday, House Intelligence Committee Republicans gave the thumbs-down to a motion to subpoena the interpreter employed for President Trump’s private meeting with Vladimir Putin.

Good grief.

Democrat (of course) Adam Schiff submitted the motion:

“It is our motion that the interpreter be subpoenaed to come and testify in closed session before our committee.”

Schiff’s statement was made during discussion of China’s threats to the American government at a public hearing.

According to Schiff, the interpreter may be able to expose national security hazards. You know, because Trump is treasonous (please see more about that here and here).

“I regret that we have to request this in today’s meeting. We requested a business meeting next week, but that request has been declined. This may be our last opportunity before we go into an extended recess to vote to subpoena the interpreter and find out if there are any other national security problems that arose from this meeting.”

Really??

Yes, really:

It’s breaking, alright, but not the cool kind:

It’s breaking up Washington and the political conversation, as part of the hammer of insanity that’s presently crushing civility, rationale, and anything approaching realism.

Incidentally, Republican Devin Nunes said the committee “[could not] entertain such a request,” because that wasn’t the point of the meeting.

This is where we are (please also see my article on Time’s new cover, here) — forget reason. The Democrats and the Left are currently engaged in a screaming match, to see who can cry the scariest wolf. President Trump isn’t just sometimes foolish; he’s Beelzebub, crouching in a corner and in cahoots with Russia, to destroy the country and the world.

And so, the idea, apparently, is that Donald Trump said this to an interpreter:

“Hey, man, Putin and I don’t speak the same language well enough to destroy the world without a translator. So you’re going to come in here with us, and when I say things like, ‘take over the world,’ or ‘grab the planet by the p***y,’ or ‘kill all minorities,’ or ‘destroy America,’ I want you to tell Vladimir what I said. And I want you to relay his thoughts to me, when he commands things like, ‘Go to Washington and do my bidding, my evil Apprentice; or you’re “fired.”‘ Oh, and then don’t tell anyone what we said. Unless, of course, you’re subpoenaed. Then, obviously, your adherence to law will come before your obligation to us and global annihilation.”

This is the world we’re living in. Or, at least, it’s the current residence of the Left. And yet, they plan to be voted back into power (as discussed here and here).

November is going to be awfully telling. And I hope it tells them to stop being ridiculous.
