Trump Says Food Stamps On Some Levels Go BYE BYE!!
The Trump administration will tighten work requirements for Americans who receive federal food assistance. The proposed rule would strip states’ ability to issue waivers unless a city or county has an unemployment rate of 7% or higher. SNAP serves roughly 40 million Americans.
“Today, President Donald J. Trump stated, we are taking steps to reinforce integrity to SNAP,” “and move more American’s into self-sufficiency.”
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program collegiality accredited to food stamps. This program has been keeping Americans from more independence in their lives since the 1960s. That’s when Democrats insisted on easier qualifications. The new policy announcement came the same day President Trump signed a law called the new farm bill, which did not include SNAP requirements Republicans in Congress had been pushing for.
At least three-quarters of the people targeted by this rule are not working. That is 2.8 million people, of which 755,000 will lose SNAP benefits over three years when this new policy goes into effect. (Trump Just Dropped This On The Media)
