A few minutes ago, Trump tweeted that he would not be seeking an alternative venue to hold the SOTU. Personally, I’m a bit disappointed as I was hoping he’d use the opportunity to ratchet up the heat on Pelosi and the Dems on the shutdown as well as put on a rally for a national audience.

Given how tough he was acting on this issue, this may not bode well for his shutdown negotiations. Pelosi has to smell blood in the water if he rolled so easily on this.

I just saw , on local news ( or what tries to pass for “news” in my area) a brief clip of him giving a live press conference. They didn’t play but a half minute of it or so.
If he had a press conference and the media did not carry it, then we can pretty much tell the media is trying to stifle him.
If that is NOT the situation, then he just blew any chance of re-election. He will have rendered himself a lame duck for the rest of his term.
