LGBT Media Does Its Best to Make Trump’s Decriminalization of Homosexuality a Bad Thing

President Donald Trump just delivered some really good news to the international LGBT community in the form of him pushing for decriminalization of homosexuality across the globe. However, for some activists, this is Trump, their supposed worst enemy, and now they’re bending over backward to make something great seem like something evil.

“Out” Magazine, a leading LGBT publication noted Trump’s helping hand to the community it claims to represent and immediately began shouting about how racist it is via an article by Mathew Rodriguez titled “Trump’s Plan to Decriminalize Homosexuality Is an Old Racist Tactic.”

His reasoning? Trump is trying to decriminalize homosexuality in places like Iran, where they are killing people for being gay, and that’s wrong because all Trump is doing is finding an excuse to kill brown people:

The truth is, this is part of an old colonialist handbook. In her essay, “Can the Subaltern Speak?” postcolonial theorist Gayatri Spivak coined the term “White men saving brown women from brown men” to describe the racist, paternalistic process by which colonizing powers would decry the way men in power treated oppressed groups, like women, to justify attacking them. Spivak was referencing the British colonial agenda in India. But Grennell’s attack might be a case of white men trying to save brown gay men from brown straight men, to the same end.

There are several signs that this decision is denoted in a colonial sense of paternalism rather than any true altruism. According to the report, the decriminalization campaign is set to begin in Berlin where LGBTQ+ activists from across Europe will meet to hatch a plan that is “mostly concentrated in the Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean.”

In summary, Rodriguez believes that Trump is just looking to kill brown people under the guise of doing it to save gay brown people.

This is a very odd position to take, especially in terms of resistance to the agenda.

Firstly, Rodriguez spends time at the beginning of the article claiming Trump doesn’t have LGBT peoples’ best interests at heart while giving shallow reasoning as to why, such as the transgender ban from the military. As I’ve explained before, this is actually not about being anti-LGBT, but about the safety of troops and well being of those who sign up.

Trump isn’t being discriminatory to be discriminatory. He’s doing it for good reason, which is actually the opposite of being anti-LGBT. Telling an unqualified person that he can’t play with highly caustic chemicals doesn’t mean you’re anti-chemistry.

But more egregious is the fact that Rodriguez seems to feel that it’s better members of his community suffer under the hand of anti-LGBT rules and laws than someone like Trump intercede and assist the world in becoming more welcoming. Damn the idea of Trump helping people! Better they should die than lend credit to a man they’re supposed to hate.

That, my friends, is some serious brainwashing and misplaced priorities.

As it stands, Trump seems to be a better friend to the LGBT community than activists and journalists like Rodriguez, who would rather watch gays die horribly than his political opponents receive applause for helping them.

That’s pretty sick.
