Fitness Influencer Uses Photoshop to Highlight the Unrealistic Beauty Standards of Instagram

Cassey Ho, a 32-year-old body-positive fitness blogger and Blogilates founder, studied the physical features of Instagram’s top 100 most-followed female users.

After noticing the trends and patterns shared among these women, Ho identified 24 attributes and contracted the help of a Photoshop-adept graphics editor to help her highlight the unrealistic beauty standards being promoted.

To help raise awareness that what you see on social media is neither realistic nor truthful, the certified pilates instructor snapped several pictures of herself in similar poses.

The photos were first shot without make-up and then again after following online make-up tutorials before being edited in Photoshop by a professional.

Ho posted the results (with all 3 versions of the photos together) on her own Instagram and YouTube. The result was showing just how false the beauty standards being promoted to young, impressionable girls are.

She received overwhelming positive responses on her social media platforms where the project was shared.

Most people fully agreed with her take on the results, with some going as far as to say it just proves how such trends make people give up their individualism and start looking the same.
