Is Nancy Pelosi Playing a Very Wile Game of Politics?

Looking at the players on the political stage at the moment, have begun to think House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is playing a more wile political game than anyone thought. She just misjudged the fanaticism of Adam Schiff over his passion to impeach President Trump, and was forced to adjust her original plans to divert any House Democrat vote on impeachment.

Back in late February 2019, a number of House Democrats expressed their strong views that impeachment proceedings against President Trump should begin. They totally ignored the strong negative impact such an action would have on voters, letting their personal hatred rule. 

Then in early March 2019, during a Washington post interview, Nancy Pelosi stated she did not support impeaching President Trump. “Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country,” she said. “I’m not for impeachment”.

“And he’s just not worth it.” With her words, Nancy Pelosi bought herself approximately six months of time where impeachment talk did not top every House Democrat agenda.

Fast forward to August 2019, and reports there was a whistleblower with information involving President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky began appearing on the Internet. The specifics related to a telephone call between the two leaders which happened in July 2019. As more information was leaked to the public, the banner cry for impeachment once again began to be shouted out by House Democrats, their frustration over the situation finding a new focus for release. And Adam Schiff is suddenly front and center concerning the whistleblower and the information being shared, making demands of the White House along with calls for impeachment. 

Then on 24 September 2019, in a well orchestrated press conference speech, Nancy Pelosi came out with the statement she now supports an “official” inquiry into impeachment of Trump. Her words changed nothing currently happening except it opened the official door for House Democrats to look into the possibility of impeachment.

“Today, I’m announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry,” Pelosi said. “The president must be held accountable. No one is above the law.”

Even as rumors of unsubstantiated and possibly false data are mentioned concerning the whistleblower’s allegations, whether House Democrats call it an impeachment investigation, an impeachment probe or an impeachment inquiry, it is just a fishing and research project to keep everyone busy. Nancy Pelosi continues to not call for a vote on the issue, possibly because she knows calling for votes on such a resolution would be almost entirely partisan. An effort not to have the resolution fail when and if a vote is ever called.

After embracing the earlier Russian collusion story and investigation, which found nothing, when Adam Schiff became Chair of the House Intelligence Committee in January 2019, it became his personal ‘mission’ to investigate all of Trump’s connections to Russia. This action was totally separate from investigation efforts by the Special Counsel, and now we know it is never going to end until Adam Schiff succeeds in getting President Trump impeached or another life changing event intervenes.

Maybe all this recent theater is Nancy Pelosi’s way of removing from play some of the prominent Democrats, in and out of the House, without getting her hands dirty. Remember her words from the 24 September 2019 press conference. “No one is above the law.”
