New Orleans’s Lusher High Rejects a Free Lunch from Chik-fil-A Because the School Must ‘Be Kind’

Would you love to have a free catered meal?

How about if you’re overworked and underpaid in a thankless position?

Well, you won’t get that chance if you’re a teacher at a New Orleans high school.

Lusher High was presented with the gift of lunch on the house through the College Football Playoff Foundation, compliments of that delicious bastion of quality, Chick-fil-A.

But the school’s principal, Dr. Steven Corbett, put the kibosh on the kibeautiful offer, due to the chicken chain’s “views.”

Steven told WWL-TV they have staff to protect:

“Outspoken”?

I get the impression that, perhaps, because of a chain reaction of word-on-the-street hoopla begun by a 2012 radio interview by its Chief Executive Officer — in which he expressed support for the “biblical definition of the family unit” — many people have the erroneous impression that Chik-fil-A wakes up every day and rages against gays.

Just a few years ago, the notion that you couldn’t eat food if you found out the makers once voted differently than you on a ballot item would’ve been wholly dismissed as idiotic.

My, how things have changed.

Imagine if we all knew how each CEO had pulled every lever over the course of their lifetime — we’d all necessarily starve to death.

Thank goodness I’m not aware of the political history of whoever’s at the helm of Krispy Kreme.

Speaking to WDSU-TV, perhaps while eating a “Hot-N-Now” doughnut, Steven stood up against the kind offer from the Chik:

New Orleans’s Channel 4 reports the CFPF will offer free food by other means:

Likely not as good as Chik-fil-A.
