Time To Bug Out? Take Your Garden With You!

The proverbial S*** has Hit The Fan, the world as we know it is in chaos, and you are looking at all of your food, water, weapons, and everything else you have stocked up and you breath a sigh of relief. You have prepared for this, and your family should fare well while the world falls apart. Everything is set, and all your time and labor is going to pay off. It’s going to be ok.

But, then, you hear that the military (or the gangs of marauding bad guys, or an invading army, or, or, or…) is moving into your area and you are going to have to bug out. You’ve prepared for this situation, too, and start loading up all the supplies you can transport, deciding what you can and can’t live without.

As you’re loading up the truck, you look over to your beautiful non-GMO garden and all of its delicious renewable food, and your heart sinks. All of that food, all those nutritious, life-sustaining fruits and vegetables are going to be left behind. What if you need that food? What if the stored food you’re taking with you doesn’t last long enough while you start a new garden at the next place? Most plants take months before they start producing food, will your family have that long to wait?

It’s a horrible thought, but we’re preppers, and we prepare for all of those horrible thoughts, don’t we?

All you have to do is…take your garden with you. There are several methods that will make that possible, my favorite being the EarthBox. It is a simple, self sustaining garden system that is big enough to grow an incredible amount of fruits and vegetables, but small enough to throw into the back of a truck and take with you. 6 EarthBoxes can produce enough food to keep a family of four in fresh food (when combined with your stored food) while you plant and grow a garden at your new location.

There is nothing better than fresh foods, and after the SHTF, fresh is something that will not be easy to find. It’s possible that after people have been eating nothing but canned and stored food for months (or longer), something like a fresh tomato or melon will be worth its weight in gold, literally. If you’re not eating all of the fruits and vegetables you’re producing, you could use them for bartering purposes.

There is no need to deprive you and your family of fresh, healthy foods. And there is no reason why you can’t take them with you in a situation where you have to leave your home. If you’re going to go through all the time and labor of having a survival garden, why not have one that is as mobile as you are?
