Evil, Meet Opportunity

This is Eli Russell’s story. There are no good guys in Eli’s story, only bad people who take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves in a world without rule of law. Refugees and preppers alike beware:

The Perseid Collapse series is the hugely successful four novel series by acclaimed author Steven Konkoly. The series is set in 2019 Maine following a devastating attack on the United States in the form of an electromagnetic pulse bomb. The United States is plunged into darkness as an EMP destroys the power grid. The attack also coincides with the annual Perseid meteor shower which produces an asteroid that splinters into meteorites. One of these meteorites creates a massive tsunami which engulfs the eastern seaboard from Maine to Virginia.

The devastating sequence of events creates a post collapse world seen through the eyes of the survivors, both good and bad. The result is the highly anticipated Perseid Collapse World.

Bobby Akart, author of Evil, Meet Opportunity, is an East Tennessee native now living on the beautiful Cumberland Plateau in a small community known as Muddy Pond, Tennessee. Oh crap, let’s cut to the chase. I am writing this, as most authors do. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a dual major in Political Science and Economics at the age of twenty. Just three and a half years later, I completed the combined degree program at UT earning aMaster’s Degree in Business Administration and a Juris Doctor. I was a highly educated lawyer, big f’n deal.

Throughout my career, I took life far too seriously while practicing law and actively managing my investments in various business ventures. Stress was sending me to an early grave. Then I met the right girl, the love of my life, and I traded my wingtips and suits for camo and vegetable gardens.

We are unabashed preppers. We believe that being prepared for all types of catastrophes is prudent and part of a self-reliant lifestyle. I believe that a committed prepper must adopt a lifestyle that requires change. If you live in the city, downgrade your lifestyle and move to the country. If you have never grown your own food, learn. If you don’t believe in weapons as a tool used for your personal security, reconsider. I never owned a gun until I became a prepper, it’s not that big of a deal. It’s a tool, for Pete’s sake. Make the conscious decision to survive, and thrive, after a collapse event. If not for yourself, do it for your family.

This philosophy led me to create www.freedompreppers.com, an informational website dedicated to assisting others in the world of prepping. I am honored to be a featured writer for the American Preppers Network. Through my vast network of friends and followers on social media, I try to give well-researched, informed advice on any topic related to creating a Preparedness Plan.

Let me stress the importance of post-apocalyptic fiction for preppers. I believe that prepper fiction is an excellent tool to bring the non-prepper into the fold. A well-written novel has the ability to place the non-prepper into the shoes of the character and ask themselves, “What would I do in this situation?”

This is what I hope to accomplish in Evil, Meet Opportunity, my first book. Wait, please don’t panic and start demanding your $1.99 back from Amazon. Let me say this first. If you are looking for Stephen King, John Steinbeck or Aristotle, that’s not me and, well, you may be in the wrong genre anyway. I do promise you that Evil, Meet Opportunity will be thought provoking and entertaining. Please keep an open mind as you read.

There are some preparedness principles in the book that will help you. Don’t get bogged down in the details. All of them can be found in articles I’ve written on FreedomPreppers.com. This book should help you realize that a post-collapse world will be extremely dangerous thanks to our fellow man. Choose your friends wisely.

Always follow rule number one of the Prepper’s Creed:

If you don’t talk, no one will hear. If no one else hears, no one else will know.

In case you haven’t noticed, I don’t take life too seriously and I believe in injecting humor everywhere. Bad people taking advantage of a bad situation is just plain bad. But the story of Eli Russell, a bad man, must reflect the personality established in Steven Konkoly’s acclaimed Perseid Collapse series. Eli is, well, you’ll see.

This book is commonly referred to as a prequel novella, with a cliffhanger. It chronicles the background and activities of one Eli Russell, the nemesis of our hero Alex Fletcher in The Perseid Collapse series. I thought the rest of his story needed to be told right up until the moment we meet Eli in The Perseid Collapse.
