“Jesus Christ is Not the ‘Logos’ or the ‘Word’ in John 1:1,” says Recently Released Study by The Fellowship of Apostles

Christian denominations around the world have taught that Jesus Christ is the ‘LOGOS’ or the ‘WORD’ in John 1:1 for more than 1700 years. A recently released study by The Fellowship of Apostles (http://www.thefellowshipofapostles.com), a group dedicated to promoting the Bible and what is written therein, claims the Bible proves he is not.

“The question we sought to answer was: What precept, line or verse establishes Jesus Christ as the LOGOS or the Word prior to John 1:1 since the name Jesus is not in the verse?” began Aldon Jarrett, a spokesman with the group. An extensive examination of Bible was conducted. Thomas McElwain (http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/thomasmcelwain), a noted Scholar of Comparative Religion and distinguished author was consulted, and Scholars, Theologians, and Clergy from around the world were queried, and the result was stunning. “To date, one has not been found,” said Jarrett. The study did find however;

LOGOS was a Greek word used hundreds of years prior to the birth of Jesus by Stoic philosophers to mean ‘the active reason pervading and animating the universe’. The active reason pervading and animating the universe was found specifically defined in Psalms 33:6-9, as the breath of God’s mouth: what He speaks, His words.

Psalms 33:6-9 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

The study found that one can see that what God says is God in Genesis 1:3 and 1 John 1:5.

Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

It was found that one can see that the word of God is God in Psalms 119:160 and John 3:33.

Psalms 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

John 3:33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.

The study also found that Revelation 19:11-13 specifically says that Gods name is the word of God.

Revelation 19:11-13 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

“The Biblical evidence is conclusive”, said Jarrett. “Jesus is not the LOGOS. The word of God is what God says. It is stunning to discover that the world’s major religions are based on a misunderstanding of scripture. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen (Romans 1:25). Churches will have a difficult time teaching that Jesus is the word once this truth is known. Despite it, people will continue to argue that Jesus is the ‘LOGOS’ or the ‘WORD’, even though there is not a single clear or specific verse that says that he is. The time has come for Christianity to re-evaluate its understanding of the Bible, and what it teaches,” he concluded.
