Century Old Castles Kept Warm with New Series of Special Heat Pumps

Centuries ago, when kings and queens wanted to warm up their castles they would fill a fireplace with wood or use a complex central heating room that mimicked a furnace. Many of these castles are still left standing all across Europe, but unfortunately their heating rooms did not survive.

“It is sad”, said Gypsy Adams, a historian who has followed the development and use of castles across Europe. “These majestic castles are still standing, but due to the fact that they cannot be heated like they used to they are practically useless.”

The possibility of leaving these wonderful castles useless is what inspired inventor, James Calloway, to create a new series of heat pumps. These heat pumps are designed specifically for use in large castles that are not designed for use with ducts or vent systems.

“Many of the historical castles are unable to have a complex, modern ventilation system“, explained Calloway. “This inability to have a modern ventilation system means they cannot be equipped with modern heaters or furnaces. That is where my heat pumps come into play.”

The heat pumps that Calloway designed allow castles to heat up to 10 rooms on the same floor with just one unit. The heating unit will force the air into the different rooms and is able to be used with the castles’ existing vent systems.

“The castles do have vent systems”, explained Adams. “These are primitive vent systems, but they work. They just are unable to be used with modern heating systems. I think that Calloway’s solution is perfect.”

The castles that are using the new heating pumps will be used for various reasons. Some of the castles will be placed on the real estate market and sold to private sellers. Some will be used as historical museums and tourist attractions, while others will be used as bed and breakfasts.

“This is an amazing time for historical buffs in Europe”, explained Adams. “Some of these castles have not been inhabited in over 200 years. There is a lot of history that can be experienced by opening these castles up to the public. Who knows what people will see or hear or experience when they step foot inside the castles.”

The heating pumps will be available exclusively to those that purchase the castles. There are currently no plans to release the heating pumps to the general public; this is because there is not much of a general market for the heating pumps.
