Could Santa’s Deliveries Have Been Faster with the Help of Project Portfolio Management Software? Some Say Yes!

Santa’s ability to travel around the globe and deliver gifts to children in a single evening has always been attributed to magic, but a new group of students believes it could be attributed to his ability to stay on top of the latest technological trends. A new report released by a group of college students suggests that Santa was able to speed up deliveries due to his ability to access a project portfolio management software program.

“We think that Santa’s ability to always have access to the latest and greatest technology may be why he could deliver thousands, if not millions, of presents in a single evening”, said Stephen Miller, one of the main researchers on the project. “We think that Santa was able to speed up deliveries because he used this advanced technology to his advantage.”

Project portfolio management software has always been used by project managers. These project managers can use the software to oversee multiple projects at a single time. The single projects are displayed on a single dashboard.

“The single dashboard layout allows people to organize their tasks, see what is going on with other projects, and really improves productivity”, explained Miller. “We believe that is with the help of this software program that Santa is able to successfully deliver all the toys. He creates different projects for each continent and country, and monitors it from there.”

Even with the help of the software program, some people are skeptical of Santa’s ability to deliver millions of toys in a single day. That is easily explained in the article and project overview that Miller created.

“It is our belief that Santa actually creates several teams of elves and people who work under him”, explained Miller. “Those people split off and take other countries in different time zones. This is how the toys get delivered to everyone on a single day.”

The report, which was written by Stephen Miller and two of his classmates, was done as a class project. The class was supposed to study how a project portfolio management software program would be able to help a certain individual. The group of students choose Santa in an effort to stay with the holiday theme.

“We choose Santa as a way to stay with a holiday theme, but we also wanted to provide kids with an explanation of how it was done”, said Miller. “I remember as a kid not believing that Santa had magic. Now, we can explain to children how it is possible they get their toys and everyone else does – and the reason makes sense!”
