Unique App Developed by a Local Sacramento Internet Company Shows What Toys Were Received Where

Ever wonder what other individuals received for Christmas? Sure, people give a list of what they got for Christmas, but what if there was a way to develop an overall picture of all the toys, gadgets, and other items people got for Christmas? There is with a new app developed by a local Sacramento Internet company.

“We have created an app that will track what people talk about for Christmas and the holidays”, explained Danny Griggs, the creator of the app. “People love to talk on social media about the best and worst gifts that they got. Our app takes that talk and charts it for people.”

The app will chart what people are talking about and show where in the world the items were received. For example, it could show that in Norway a new wooden doll named Holly was popular with girls between the ages of 4 and 8, while boys mostly got skates.

“Originally, this app was going to be developed for department stores and such”, explained Griggs. “We figured it was a way for stores to show who was buying what and what was popular. Soon the private sector was showing interest in this type of information and we figured we could release it to the public just for fun.”

Currently, the app has not been released to the public as there are a few bugs that need to be worked out. However, it is expected that this app could be available in time for Christmas next year. The Internet company plans on running several test runs in the local area to see if the information can be tracked and used for the purpose that it is intended.

“We plan on running several beta tests for the app”, said Griggs. “We need to see if this type of app would work on a smaller scale. We know it works for department stores and other smaller scale stores. We do not know if it works for a large scale audience. We think it will, but we are unsure.”

The beta tests will be done with several customers who currently subscribe to a Sacramento Internet company. The information would be voluntarily given to the app manufacturer, but it could help in creating the most popular app for the 2014 season. Beta testing will begin sometime in March and run until May.
