Worldwide Caroling Turned into a Prospective Record Deal Thanks to Help from Students at Audio Engineering Schools

Recording songs in the past used to require all individuals be in the same recording studio at the same time. Thanks to relatively new technology created with the help of students at local audio engineering schools, now people from all over the world can collaborate and create recordings even without people being in the same room.

“We found it relatively easy to create this software”, explained Daniel Higgins, a student at one of the local audio engineering schools. “All it requires is that people be online and recording at the same time. It takes a little planning and scheduling, but that is about it.”

This new technology has proven extremely helpful when a group of international carolers were offered a record deal from a major production label. The carolers were involved in one of the world’s largest caroling contest and people loved the music.

“People from all over the world gathered at the same time on social media video chat and sang the same carols together”, explained Thomas Narrows, a representative for the production studio. “It was really moving. People who heard it couldn’t help but tear up. It was so emotional. We want that with this next recording.”

The carolers were offered a recording contract, but due to scheduling conflicts they would be unable to be in the recording studio at the same time. This led students at the audio engineering schools to come up with an alternative plan.

“It was such a good cause”, explained Higgins. “I wanted to see this come about and happen for these caring carolers. That was when we came up with the digital recording sessions. It takes a little reworking to eliminate time delays and such, but it really is wonderful.”

This digital recording session is expected to take the world by storm. Production companies are already discussing how they can use it for recording artists and recording artists are talking about using favorite backup singers with it. The possibilities are essentially endless when it comes to what can and will be done with such technology.

“I think this technology could really change the way people record music”, said Narrows. “I am just amazed that it took a worldwide caroling contest to spark this type of interest. No one knew what would come of that caroling contest and look what happened. It is truly amazing!’
