Skilled Nurse Basirah TaHa, DNP, to Be Published in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

With an upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare, Basirah TaHa, DNP, joins the prestigious ranks of the International Nurses Association. She is a Registered Nurse with twenty-five years of experience in her field and extensive expertise in Trauma, Crisis, Intervention, and Community Health. Dr. TaHa is currently working as an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. She is also on staff at Saint Clare’s Hospital and St. Peter’s University Hospital. In the interest of acquiring knowledge of traditional healing practices and achieving cultural proficiency, she has traveled extensively in North America, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Dr. TaHa is the co-founder of the MAAT Center and has expertly utilized both evidenced-based medicine, and culturally relevant practices to restore emotional health to those in her care.

Dr. TaHa received her nursing degree in 1989 from Mountainside School of Nursing. She completed a BA in psychology at Rutgers University and an MS in Adult Psychiatric Nursing and Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Columbia University. Dr. TaHa is also an active member of the American Nurses Association, the New Jersey State Nurses Association, and the National Black Nurses Association. She is the recipient of the Jonas Scholarship for Nursing Excellence and an inductee of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Dr. TaHa is certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner by ANCC.

Dr. TaHa attributes her success to strong mentors and great leaders that have influenced and encouraged her. When not assisting patients, she dedicates to traveling, fitness, group activities, and teaching.
