Leading Dermatologist Mary Kari Connolly, MD, to be Recognized as a 2015 Top Doctor in San Francisco, California

Mary Kari Connolly, MD, expert dermatologist at UCSF Medical Center – Dermatology, and affiliated with UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus has been named a 2015 Top Doctor in San Francisco, California. Dr. Mary Kari Connolly has been in practice for more than 31 years, with her medical career beginning in 1981 when she graduated from Albany Medical College. This was followed up by a residency in internal medicine completed at UCLA in 1987. There then followed two fellowships at UCSF, the first in rheumatology completed in 1990 and the second in dermatology completed in 1991.

Following the successful completion of this second fellowship, Dr. Connolly joined the faculty of UCSF and has been in practice there as an autoimmune dermatologist since 1991. In this capacity, she diagnoses and treats a wide range of conditions from acne and dermatitis to autoimmune diseases including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Her specialist interest is in the way tissue damage occurs as a result of autoimmune skin diseases, and how the study of this area can lead to more effective treatments.

Board certified in both Dermatology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Connolly is now seen as a foremost expert in this field, and is involved in research studies into conditions including lupus erythematosus, and dermatomyositis. This in depth research involves Dr. Connolly and her team examining hundreds of skin samples every year, and both her research and teaching have won her a number of awards. It is this dedication to discovering new breakthroughs in the study of dermatology that make Dr. Connolly a very worthy winner of a 2015 Top Doctor Award.
