A residency later followed at Mount Clemens General Hospital and then a fellowship at the same hospital in Michigan and at Wayne State University in Detroit.

As well as his busy practice, he has also worked as a volunteer for the Arthritis Foundation of Michigan for over 18 years, and has previously served as the Chairman of its board of trustees.
