NEW VISION EYE CENTRE HOSTS WORKSHOP FOR PAEDIATRIC VISION CARE

With the aim of drawing attention to children’s eye-care, New Vision conducted a workshop to better educate the public.

As there has been a rise in treatments for eye problems such as LASIK in Dubai for refractive errors, surgeries for glaucoma, cataract and so on, New Vision Eye Centre recently held a workshop on the importance of paediatric eye health maintenance in a bid to instill the importance of good vision from a young age. The workshop was held for both children and their parents, where they engaged in a variety of fun-filled yet educational activities. The session was organised by the staff of the clinic in the hopes that they will be vigilant in the future about caring for their eyesight.

Today, there are many different types of solutions for medical problems although how effective they are can be a subjective matter. Refractive errors are some of the most common causes of poor vision which are only made worse with time and age. Short-sightedness and long-sightedness are categorised under refractive errors and are mainly linked through genetics. Although demand for LASIK treatment in Dubai has increased since its introduction, doctors at New Vision Eye Centre encouraged parents at the workshop to take their children for regular eye tests so that early detection will in turn lead to early treatment plans delaying any further issues with existing conditions.

‘You only ever get one pair of eyes in your lifetime. If you are born with healthy vision, it is a crime to allow it to disintegrate for no good reason. Many patients who come to me learn when it is too late that had they come earlier, they might have had a chance at rescuing the situation perhaps even avoiding the need for LASIK eye surgery in Dubai completely. Unfortunately we are all just too busy with our daily lives that our health has taken a backseat until of course it eventually catches upto us and we collapse. With this workshop we hope that not only the parents realise how important it is to go in for regular checkups, but that the kids too understand the importance through interactive games and quizzes prepared solely by the team.’ – Dr. Safwan Al-Bayati
