Gulf of Mexico Oil Disaster - Punishment From God? Excerpt of Rebuttal by Pastor C. Covert

(This is an excerpt from an article on my blog by the same name: Gulf of Mexico Oil Disaster – Punishment From God?)

Today I received a link to an article from a friend. The article was entitled: Is oil catastrophe fulfillment of Genesis prophecy?”  (Joe Kovacs, on World News Daily)  Embedded in the article was a YouTube videoentitled: “EXCLUSIVE! OIL SPILL IN GULF – Hand of God? Connection to Israel? (Carl Gallups of Milton, Florida)

In Mr. Kovacs’ article, the scripture used to make the connection between the curse of the oil disaster and the book of Genesis, in the Holy (Christian) Bible, is Genesis 12:2-3, which reads as follows:

“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse…” (Genesis 12:2-3, NIV)

In this scripture, Adonai God is speaking to Abram (whose name is later changed to Abraham) about the covenant that God was making with him.

The very first followers of Jesus were Jews, sons and daughters of Abraham, partakers in the covenant God made with Abram, and now partakers in the new covenant made in the blood of Jesus the Christ.

Later, Samaritans, and then Gentiles, became baptized into Christ. By faith in Jesus Christ, the wild olive branch (Gentiles) became grafted onto the cultivated tree (Israel). That is why Christians are no longer called Gentiles, but are adopted into Israel. That is one of the reasons we are to love the Israel of God: to do so is to love ourselves. Anyone who hates Israel does not understand the Scriptures.

Having said that, do I believe the Gulf Oil Disaster is part of God’s judgment? Yes, I do. But not for the reasons stated by Mr. Kovaks or Mr. Gallups.

I have an opinion on the subject of the Gulf of Mexico Oil Disaster, and my opinion is formed in the presence of several factors:

  1. I am a Bible-believing follower of Christ, and a student of the Bible and Biblical prophecy for 39 years;
  2. The Lord Jesus Christ has given me a vision concerning this specific disaster in the Gulf of Mexico (see my paper, “Sink or Swim Now! The Gulf Oil Disaster”);
  3. I read articles from any and all sources on the subject each day in order to put together a daily email update for my friends in the Gulf of Mexico.
  4. I lived on Bayou LaFourche for over two years, and went to church in Larose. I spent lots of time fishing in Port Fourchon and Grand Isle and all along the highway in between Leeville and Golden Meadow.
  5. I know the offshore helicopter culture intimately. I know the shrimping, fishing, crabbing and oyster culture intimately. I have many friends in the Cajun community, and I know the intimate ties of the people to their land and water.
  6. I understand the nature of the United States, and the nature of humanity.
  7. I have intimate acquaintance with members of Homeland Security, and access to updates on certain aspects of deployment of assets and incident response.

Therefore, based on these factors, I would like to submit my own opinion in rebuttal to the article and the video that spurred me to write in the first place.

I disagree that the Gulf Oil Disaster is the result of God’s punishment for Obama’s words regarding Israel, as the video’s author posits. Even though the events coincide well with the anniversary of the forming of the state of Israel, I have also read the opinions of other authors who claim that it was an offering to appease the gods on Earth Day, and others who claim that this is Obama’s doing – a plan to push through Cap and Trade Tax and Carbon Footprint Taxes. We all have heard Rahm Emmanuel’s words over and over again by now: “never let a good crisis go to waste”. A less sinister view of the situation still leaves room for doubt about the President’s response to the Gulf Oil Disaster.

I’ve no doubt that whatever is done to a nation in such sweeping catastrophes, is a judgment from God, no matter who takes responsibility – or tries to dodge it. There are no accidents or coincidences that do not have the hand of God on them. Even the dragon I saw over the Gulf of Mexico within two weeks of the “accident” is only there because he is permitted to be there.

Based on everything I’ve read so far, the oil gusher and the sinking of Deepwater Horizon appears to be the result of greed, criminal negligence, and criminal activity.

From under all the layers of blame, dissembling and false flags, there is an emerging picture of a possible struggle between Halliburton (U.S.A.) and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands (BP), and sinking the Deepwater Horizon forced BP to lose the rig and therefore the claim to the site. All they can do is clean it up. It may be that the mineral rights will revert back to the owner of the site, and the leaser of the sunken rig (BP) will get the bill for the cleanup.

I have read many theories about the motive behind letting the oil run, when a well-placed nuke would have probably taken care of the problem early on. I have read that the dead zone that is becoming the Gulf of Mexico will be used for an algae farm to fulfill our president’s vision of bio-fuels. I have read that this is just an excuse for genocide, to lighten the weight of overpopulation, the culling of undesirables, and part of the plan to restructure the United States in preparation for the ushering in of the New World Order.

I have read that the dollar is sliding, the gushing oil is breaking the stock market, and that this is all part of a plan to humble the United States to the level of a third-world country. I have read that when the dollar tanks, a new world currency will be on the horizon and Americans will be forced to get on board; when the dollar tanks, real-estate values will plummet, and people will be living hand to mouth, with many, many more unemployed.

I believe the action taken after the “accident” is a combination of criminal negligence and criminal activity, and opportunists are going to make hay while the BP sun shines. It seems that the mega-rich oligarchs engaged in locking horns don’t care what the collateral damage is. The poor people living on the Gulf, especially in Louisiana, will relocate or die slow deaths where they sit, and the dragon I saw in my vision will engulf everything within its reach.

Sadly, when we Christians jump to conclusions without checking our facts, we give a black eye to the Church. We lose credibility in our race to be the first to notice the connection between current events and the Event we are all waiting for, because we skip over important steps.

This brings us back to the question asked in the title of the article: is the Gulf Oil Disaster a fulfillment of Genesis?

The author of the video, Mr. Gallups, opens with the printed words on the screen – “Coincidence or Judgment of God?” He then goes on to posit that the Gulf Oil disaster is the result of Obama saying that we (the government of America) are not going to automatically support Israel. Mr. Gallups likens Obama’s words to “cursing” Israel.

In my view, though we should certainly take note and watch what results from Obama’s words, they are not a direct “curse” of Israel. Mr. Gallups jumps to a conclusion, calling Obama’s words a curse, and this becomes the rationale he employs to say that America is being judged for cursing Israel.

According to all indications, Obama wishes to “appear” be in a place of neutrality with Israel so he will not anger the Saudi princes or the American people who believe we have a moral obligation to support Israel. Some opine that Obama has more than just a desire to make peace, and that he is a strong supporter of the Muslim world due to his family upbringing. Once more, we need to watch and see what happens without jumping to conclusions.

Some of the false Jews (not truly of the tribe of Judah) in Israel, who are part of the Jewish government, are not the Chosen Ones who will inherit the Lord. Their actions are evil, and their agenda is far from the plans that God has for His people.

In Palestine and the regions surrounding Jerusalem, there are not only enemies of Israel, but there are also devout and persecuted Christians who are being jailed, tortured, starved, separated from their families and killed because they live in the wrong place. This will happen to believers everywhere before the end, but woe to the nation who executes such punishment on Jesus’ own. America will do this, too, before the end. And the martyred souls under the altar who cry out for justice from God, saying, “How long before you execute your righteous judgment on those who killed us?” may well include martyred American Christians.

But God always keeps a remnant for Himself who have not bowed their knees to Baal. And the Revelation states that 144,000 souls, 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel, will be saved in the great Tribulation. By this we know that there will be many who are perhaps closet Christians in a world where it is dangerous to speak of one’s belief in Christ, but they nonetheless have kept their garments clean. God promises that many will be saved out of the great Tribulation, and it is God’s way of getting the attention of those who will not come in any other way.

We should always pray for the peace of Jerusalem. But we must realize that there will be no peace until Jesus, the Prince of Peace, comes and cleanses the earth of its evil and establishes His Kingdom forever.

May we all be found ready when our Master returns.
