The Resurrection & The Great Casino In The Sky

Our present age is one of great uncertainty. There is a pervasive knowing among hundreds of millions of people on this planet that we are moving towards some great impending disaster or cataclysm. It is a collective knowing that is primal and ancient in its instincts, like the way animals behave before an earthquake. In addition, to those who are awake, there is the knowledge of the gathering forces of evil. Historically, this kind of sociological environment leads to a kind mass gambling mentality.

People begin to throw the dice with their lives, marriages, and morals. They do not know what tomorrow may bring, or even if there will be a tomorrow? This was the climate of the French Revolution, where a topless woman rode on horseback as a human symbol of the goddess of reason. French philosophers, like Rousseau, fueled the flames of a humanist revolution which rejected the notion of a God and His laws. Orgies were held in the sanctuaries of the churches, and a bloody and violent revolution occurred. Thousands were beheaded on the guillotines and the radical, Robespierre, began his, “Reign of Terror.” The French philosophers and revolutionaries overthrew the power of the church and replaced it with the power of man. The idea of an irrational universe with no Personal God, just random chance and luck, produces a fertile climate for totalitarianism.

America and the world are following in the footsteps of the French Revolution, where life has no meaning and we are here simply rolling the genetic dice. In a world that has become a gambler’s paradise, it is clear that an inner courage is being summoned and a call for a strength that is way beyond our current human capacity will be needed for what lies ahead.

In Francis Ford Coppola’s, “Apocalypse Now,” he depicted the chaos of that time and we see that chaos, emerging again in our contemporary films. What does the future hold and is it possible to predict outcomes? The problem is that when we have conducted such an analysis and stared into the chaos, it is possible to become overwhelmed by fear, as if one stared into the great abyss and the rise of an Orwellian super-state. The spiritual force of fear rips through our consciousness, like a paralyzing electrical current that immobilizes, for that is its intent. But, one does not have to surrender to the riptide of that fear. For there is a greater force than fear and that is the force of faith. True faith overcomes fear. True faith is not a mystical faith that offers the solace of a rabbit’s foot or feeling lucky with the Great Casino in the Sky. It is a scientific faith anchored in a specific event that occurred in real space-time-history. That event is the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead in front of numerous witnesses. That one single event changes all of human history both past, present, and future. It is like walking in from the dark desert of Darwinian evolutionary random chance into a great Las Vegas casino all lit up. Yet, when you walk into the room the odds instantly change. All of a sudden, you win at everything you play and the house can’t stop it! It is not a matter of luck, the odds have actually, mathematically changed.
