You are with God or not based on your deeds (works). Those who are of God do not do evil (3 John 1:11). Jesus came to call evil people to repent of their evil deeds. The righteous, good people, are already living the way God wants people to live.
The author will be among those who the Lord says I never knew you, depart from me workers of iniquity. These are people who say Lord, Lord, our many wonderful works in your name, but as this author is, they are workers of iniquity (lawlessness) saying you are saved by grace, now do good works when the truth is repentance for evil, if one is evil.
Matthew 9:13 “I came to call sinners to repent, not the righteous to repent.”
Matthew 3:8 “Do the deeds that show you have repented.”
Jonah 3:10 “God saw their works that they turned from their evil ways ….”
It is NOT saved first, then works. It is TURN FROM EVIL DEEDS first and that’s it:
John 3:19 “And the condemnation is this: that light has come into the world but some men prefer darkness to light because the do evil deeds.”
Works are deeds. Good people do not do evil and are already on the path to Heaven, as reflected in Revelation 5:9 and
Psalm 1:6 “God knows the way of the righteous but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
Now as to this lie of the author that the lake of fire burns to dust and that’s the end of them all, read the truth:
Revelation 20:10 “And the Devil … was cast alive into the lake of fire … where the beast and the false prophet are and shall be tormented day and night forever.”
The Devil is cast into the lake of fire for good after the 1000 year reign of Christ on earth. The Beast and false prophet were already there 1000+ years prior (Revelation 19:20) so it is a lie of the author that the lake of fire burns to dust and that’s the end of all who were cast into the lake of fire.

Bring forth therefore fruits (works) meeting for repentance.

“Whose fan is in this hand and He will thoroughly purge His floor and will gather the wheat into His garner but the chaff He will burn with fire unquenchable.”
This is the 2nd death in the Lake of Fire.

When you quote Rev. 20:10, read it correctly: The Devil was cast in to the lake of fire AS were the beast and the false prophet, the Devil has eternal life and can not die, he will be placed in black darkness, no light of God, forever –that is torment!
If humans have immortal souls, how can the Gift of God be eternal life — if we already have
