Documentary explores intrigue that has lasted for centuries

A new documentary is the first effort to take an objective look at the prophecies of a 12th century Irish Catholic saint and what they portend for the future of the Church and Pope Francis.

According to the Prophecy of the Popes, a time of vast biblical significance is now at hand.

“The Last Pope?” includes medieval historians, Vatican-affiliated experts and authors. From Ireland to Italy, “The Last Pope?” tells a riveting story of eschatological intrigue. The film is based on the book, “Petrus Romanus: The Final Pope is Here,” by Tom Horn and Cris Putnam.

“The Last Pope?” delves deeply into the prophecies of St. Malachy, an Irish saint and archbishop of Armagh who lived from 1094 to 1148. Malachy’s “Prophesies of the Popes” is said to be based on a prophetic vision of the 112 popes following Pope Celestine II, who died in 1144.

Malachy’s prophecies, first published in 1595, culminate with the “final pope,” “Petrus Romanus,” or “Peter the Roman,” whose reign ends with the destruction of Rome and the judgment of Christ. A modern version of Malachy’s prophecies was published in 1969 by Archbishop H. E. Cardinale, the Apostolic Nuncio to Belgium and Luxembourg.

The film examines Malachy’s prophecies, which are a series of statements that purportedly provide clues as the identity of each of the 112 popes, in a critical light. Some of the statements refer to a particular town, while others make references to the coat of arms representing each pontiff.

Skeptics have said the book is nothing more than a collection of phrases similar to the writings of Nostradamus. Putman says people have a right to be skeptical, and if Malachy’s revelations are correct, they should stand up to scrutiny using the scientific method. He goes on to say that they provide a fascinating insight into the history of the popes.

“The way the scientific method works is you develop a hypothesis and you don’t try to prove a hypothesis, you try to disprove it,” Putnam said. “It’s easy to find some kind of confirming evidence if you go fishing around. In a lot of these prophecies, I think that’s a valid criticism.”

We shall see. Prophecies tend to be self fulfilling. Or, are they?

  • KM This is not the only prophecy out there. Others r very similar. We are in the last days. Famine will strike soon. GET PREPARED NOW!!! God bless. Don’t be like the people who didn’t believe Noah. Get in the ark this time!!!

What you mean apart from the fact he missed out several Popes and the only way you can keep maintaining it as an ongoing future prophesy, is to conveniently forget that fact. The same as you do with all your dogma, you ignore reality.

I’ve read, studied, prayed to understand Biblical prophecy since about 1975 & as I’ve understood & watched world events come to pass I think we are in the end of the age. Following are things in prophecy that support this thought:
    1. Someone living when 1st prophetic event happens will be alive when last prophetic event happens. The oldest person alive is about 115 years old. 1948 + 115 = 2063. Last event will happen within next 50 (or fewer years). Some people think a lifespan is 70 years which would mean 1948 + 70 = 2018 but since Antichrist needs Temple to claim himself God, no temple exists (yet) & Jesus doesn’t return (I think) before 7th year of covenant I think God’s return will be after 2020.
    2. Israel did not exist before May 14, 1948. Israel will be surrounded by armies.
    3. Unless God prevents it man will destroy himself. Man didn’t know how to destroy himself before about 1945.
    4. A nation will have a 200,000,000 man military force. China’s 1 child per family has skewed the male/female birth rate in China so it has enough people to create such an army. I once saw a report in about 1965 that said China had 200,000,000 soldiers in its armed forces.
    5. Solomon’s temple will be where the abomination takes place. Lamps in the temple will need oil to be lit. The species of plant from which the temple oils is derived became extinct about 2000 years ago. I read that a sunken cargo ship was found with unbroken clay pots that contained the oil was salvaged a few years ago.
    6. Purple colored cloth in the temple is derived from a specific color purple dye which has been extracted from a species of Mediterranean Sea snail.
    7. The quarry from which the temple stones were gotten has been identified & is prepared to cut new stones to rebuild the temple.
    9. Gold & silver worship items have been created in keeping with original temple worship requirements.
    10. The tribe from which temple priests were cultivated has been found & returned to live in Israel.
    11. Search for the unblemished red heifer has been in process for the past several years. Several candidates (4 or 5) were identified & as they grew some non-red hairs were located which eliminated most contenders for that role. At last report I’ve seen there remains 1 suitable animal.
    12. If one believes what was reported a few years ago the Ark of the Covenant was located by Mr. Ron Wyatt & has been kept hidden by the Israel government.
    13. Current technological methods have been used over the years which supposedly identified the location of the corner stones of the 2nd temple & if that is to be believed the 3rd temple can be built without interference of the Dome of the Rock.
    14. The Holy Roman Empire was rebuilt when the European Union was formed. Although there are about 29 member nations there is only a “more equal” core group of 10 nations.
    15. The short tenure of Pope Benedict in favor of Pope Francis & 12th century Roman Catholic Church prophecy seem to fit in with Bible end time events.
    16. Rumor has it some agreements were made which include Roman Catholic & Israeli signatories. (If one performs a websearch information regarding this may be found).
    17. European Union, Japanese, United States & other nation’s economic meltdown over the past few years seems to be priming the community of nations to form a world government which may then result in a single world currency.
    18. The Mark of the Beast, without which one may not buy or sell, is certainly possible now that E-commerce exists & Government controls are in place.
    19. Knowledge will be greatly increased & man will be going to & fro seems to be real at this moment.
    20. The Word of God will be broadcast through all the world appears to be happening or is at least possible now.

I am vigilant in my Internet search for political news which addresses Israel’s right to build Solomon’s 3rd temple. The things necessary to build the temple are in place so when the cornerstone is placed & building begins we will be very near the End of the Age.

On July 4th, Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict, in a holy formal ceremony, took the extraordinary step of consecrating the Vatican to the protection of St. Michael the Archangel., Prince of the Heavenly Hosts.

When the popes — especially Pope Francis who is Petrus Romanus, the last pope — make supplication to God’s Heavenly Army in such a way, everyone on earth should take note.

This is about as serious as it gets. Italy’s economy is in dire straits, and the Vatican is in great danger of being invaded and seized by international banker Illuminati.

At LaSalette, the Holy Virgin warned that this would happen as a sign that the end was imminent. The dawn of the “holy age” may be just around the corner. It’s birth will entail tribulation more severe than anything ever seen before in human history.
