2 Corinthians 6: 2For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
This message is for all who have backslidden from the Lord.
The word ‘backslidden’ is a Biblical Word meaning: Falling away; turning away, or apostasy.
If you note, Paul, who wrote of the Scriptural verse above, uses the phrase, “Now is the time.” In other words, “Today is the day for salvation; of mercy and grace. The time is NOW, RIGHT NOW!
Jesus warned that many believers would turn away and grow cold.
Matthew 24: 12”Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold…”
Jesus’ message is clear as many who have been on fire for God will fall away. They will drift into a spiritual coldness, return to their old fleshy ways and live in sin. This will happen at the time Jesus identified as, “the days of great sorrows.”
At this time one would think it would be the time to gain more fire for God and the drawing nearer to him. But the reverse is happening. We hear many prominently known voices as they tell us: These are days of unspeakable wickedness, marked by uncontrollable greed, rampant sexual perversions, addictions to drugs and alcohol and even pornography.
I ask, Is this the time to neglect the day of salvation?
Absolutely not!
If you ever truly loved God, followed Jesus and are growing cold, the Holy Spirit wants to extend this invitation; Return to the merciful arms of Christ, allow His compassion to fill your heart! If you hear Him calling, LISTEN TO HIM!
Some who have backslidden tell themselves; “I can get right with God any time I choose. I am just not ready at this time. I’m not angry with God I just want to enjoy my friends, myself and what I am doing; I’ll come to Him in my time.”
Brothers, sisters, the Holy Spirit compels me to tell you of that danger of coldness as that coldness has a powerful yet predictable effect on the backslidden.
Know this and know it well; Spiritual coldness leads to hardness of the heart!
The term “hardness” indicates a condition that renders the effected one to be ‘beyond the influence of any gracious pleadings or persuasions of the Holy Spirit.’ The self-imposed exclusion from God, with no intention of following His Word, or the gospels results in a spiritual hardness of the heart and distances one from the Holy Spirit!
2 Thessalonians 2: 3Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for (that day will not come) until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
In willingly removing one’s self from the presence of the Holy Spirit one deliberately allows him/herself to be deceived and turns away from truth.
2 Thessalonians 2: 10and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
God issues His warning in the words of:
Hebrews 3: 11So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ” 12See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
I tell you now and I stress my concern, BELIEVE IN HIM. Do not allow your hearts to turn cold and as a result allow it to harden.
Hebrews 3: 7So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, 8do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the desert …”
Though spoken to the Israelites of Biblical days, these words are applicable today!
Holding fast to your faith is crucial. That is because that sin hardens hearts to the point of disbelief. When someone who prays and fails to recognize the answer that God gives to that prayer they feel as if their prayers were not answered and that God has failed them. The next step is that they begin to show anger at Him.
I have spoken to many that men and women who were once zealous believers that have now begun to grow cold and hardened their hearts toward God. Where they once walked faithfully with the Lord, believed in His Word and were on fire for Jesus and cried out to the Lord and when their prayers were not answered ON THEIR TIMETABLE spoke out to the Lord with phrases such as, “You failed me…I received no answer to my prayer.”
Many do not want to read my words or even think about what I am saying.
Then there are those who have allowed themselves to be led away by ungodly friends. Although they know God is there for them they choose a life of sin and allow their hearts to be hardened.
These days are certainly something I never thought I would see in my lifetime. I always thought that I thought much the same as others but now know that many think far differently that I do. However I pray that you will take heed and not allow your heart to be hardened as today, this very day is a day of our trials here on earth.
Hebrews 4: 7Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”
Not a single one of us is exempt from falling and backsliding in the current times. These are difficult times today and they will continue until our Lord returns. I will repeat this massage here and in days ahead: “Stay strong in your faith and allow God to work in His time schedule not in the time frame you think He should.”

Heavenly Father we come to You with our praises and ask that You allow us to worship You as wee walk these earthly plains. It is our desire to live within Your dictates and forever remain faithful to You.
Lord, we all know of someone that has ceased his or her belief in You and we ask for the wisdom to say the words that will bring those back to You. We will sow the seed of Your Word and ask that You water those seeds with an everlasting life with belief in You.
Lord, protect us and do not allow a single one of us to succumb to the wiles of Satan and keep us forever under Your Divine ways.
As we pray to You we also ask that our men and women in our military services remain under Your protection and in times of peril You grant them the strength to face dangers secure in the knowledge that You and eternal life are there for them.
We pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son and our Savior, who is One with You and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever, Amen, amen and amen.

You know I have been hearing that term “get right with God” for a long time and after reading your article I still do not know what you think it means. Do you know?
I don’t think I read one sentence saying to those that are falling away to OBEY.
All I can think to pass on to you is the scripture where Jesus Christ says –
“Why call you Me Lord Lord and do not the things I say”. Do you know what Christ says He wants you to DO? Are you doing them?

No thanks, I’m not into sexism, racism, rape, slavery, torture, death by stoning for wearing mixed fabrics, eating shellfish or pork, premeditated genocides and disgusting blood sacrifices. I have far better morals, in fact just about everyone has far better morals. If you don’t need a horrendous blood sacrifice in order to forgive, you have better morals and 100% more empathy than the biblical deity.

Exactly. Although fair play most Christians are good despite their draconian religious indoctrination. We only ever hear from the odious arrogant amongst them, the genuine ones keep their belief and opinions to themselves as a personal thing, as it should be. The organisations are another matter and are corrupt to their cores.
