Warning: God Told Me ______?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Recent posts of a 9.7 earthquake to destroy the Golden Gate Bridge and much of the bay area on October 3 might leave many wondering what happened to it?

Pat Robertson said God told him to run for president. We wonder, Was it really God?

Having had a Pentecostal neighbor who believed in her experience, even if it seemed to be contrary to Scripture, we should be cautious about testimony that seems sensational if no biblical support is given for it.

Yes, Christ said there were be earthquakes in diverse places, but it’s another thing to say where, when and how big.

The Bible teaches us that God won’t do anything without revealing it through His prophets, (Amos 3:7), but we should be cautious about too many folks who wanna-be. We need to see that the Bible supports what they say by considering a broad context.

We need to study the prophecies more to understand what is already revealed. Like the men in the treasury department who study the genuine so that counterfeit bills are recognized as different.

I offer a couple examples that might help some. The first one suggests militant Islam in the Middle East will be subdued in the defeat of Iran. http://AmericaInProphecy.me (left column) though there’s no guarantee about what’s happening in this country.

Http://TheBridegroomComes.wordpress.com is another example of current events fitting a biblical perspective. We need to have an open mind to see how current events fit the Bible.

There’s a FREE ebook Saturday and Sunday (Oct 5,6) with 5-star reviews that has helpful insights to prophecy at www.amazon.com/dp/B00ET80D6K

No doubt. So why are there as many prophecy hawks making textbook examples of common mistakes as there are? Answer – arrogance. “God told me so.” “God made me to understand.” “God put on my heart…” Nonsense. You told yourself. (The generic ‘you’, that is, which includes all of us.) Or worse, someone using our own voices inside our minds told it to us. If there’s one thing I have learned very thoroughly over the past few years, it’s that most of the Bible-believers who take the time to write blogs and prophecy articles, aren’t quite as humble as they think they are, and certainly not as humble as they ought to be. This whole ‘God told me so’ mentality stems from the very simple, and very primal, desire to be set-apart from the crowd; to be distinguished in a unique relationship with the Most High that is a better and truer relationship than most all others enjoy. But he who would be first, becomes last, and the culvert which runs along the afflicted path is littered with the bruised and battered bodies of would-be seekers after the Way who were way too hasty, too presumptuous, and too prideful. Some of us take the lesson to heart, or at least try to. But many others seem intent on NOT learning that particular lesson.

[Good morning, Doc. I caught your interview with Kerry Lutz on the ‘Financial Survival Network’ a few weeks ago. I especially enjoyed how you steered the conversation (rather abruptly, I might add) into the topic of the written Word. Lutz himself is hostile to the Word. He is a pseudo-spiritual/new-ageish type of non-type. He also employs some of the most subtle imagery for his programming which only an apt pupil in the esoteric arts should be using, so either he himself, or his program director (if he has one), is actively playing for the wrong team. It made for an interesting interview. I could feel his discomfort when you took him places he really didn’t want to go. Good form.]

Thank you both for your comments. The diamond of truth has many facets and we can all have a share in reflecting light as we see it. I’m convinced we are getting to end-times and the scenes of Revelation soon. May God give us the oil of His Spirit for our lamps.
