The Faith That Pleases God

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Gene Lawley * Rapture Ready

The statement from Habakkuk 2:4 that is repeated three times in the New Testament is a key connecting link between the two Testaments and highlights the fact that faith is the basis of a relationship with God, even under the law.  That New Testament posting of the verse is first repeated by Paul in Romans 1:17:

“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’”

Paul also repeated it again in Galatians 3:11: “But that no one is justified by the Law in the sight of God is clear, for: ‘The just shall live by faith.’”

And again, it is repeated in Hebrews 10:38, but with an added qualifier for our understanding and application:

“Now, ‘the Just shall live by faith.’ But if he draws back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.’”

So, we can see that the faith that pleases God is one that is active, stepping out on the basis of trust that the promises of God are real and true.

James writes in James 2:17: “Even so, if it does not have works, faith is dead, being by itself.”

Read the “does not have” phrase as, “has no activity or application” in one’s life. Many people say, “I have faith that…(whatever)” yet the Word says, “the just shall live by faith” and he must not draw back from exercising that faith in his personal life.

Simple enough, right?

Well, let’s explore the nature and characteristics of that faith that pleases God. Hebrews 11:6 is our focal point:

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Pleasing faith must believe that God is. Is what? That He exists? Yes, but much more than that is present in that little word, “is.” That God is, for one with true faith, carries a tremendous amount of encouragement when coupled with the latter part of the verse, that He is a rewarder.

That God is a “good.” God is nowhere near the reality of who He is, particularly in relationship to the believer. Who is it who knows every hair of your head (apparently He keeps track of every detail of our lives)?

When Moses, apparently trying to backpedal on his looming call for commitment, he asked God, “Whom shall I say sent me?” In response to the voice from the burning bush that had said, “You are to go and lead my people out of bondage in Egypt.” And, God replied, “Tell them I AM sent you.” Similarly we may ask, “I AM what? The Bible tells us in John 3:27, “A man can receive nothing unless it is given to him from heaven.”  God says I AM your source for everything you need. It stands to reason—He created everything. And, just by His spoken Word—He did it!

So, God is; He exists and He is the source of whatever the believer needs, and…He is also the source of whatever the non-believer needs, as well.  What is your need today? Tangible and physical—see Matthew 6:33:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.”

Is it emotional and spiritual? Philippians 4:6-7:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God  and the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Now, believing that God exists-the agnostics stop there, and so do the demons, but they tremble, for they also know who He really is, too (see James 2:19).  For believers, that part of “diligently seeking Him” is a lot closer to an opposite of the “drawing back” caveat in Hebrews 10:38.  It calls for action on our part, but what does “diligent” mean?

Jeremiah 29:13 says, “And you shall seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”

And Jesus told the woman at the well:

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him. God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24).

With consistency, regularity and honesty, I see this as seeking God directly, through Jesus, as a Person in all of His eternal being, and for Himself; no physical trappings to be involved, for He is Spirit.

Worshipping God in truth would involve looking to Him for who He is and what He has done, not seeking His favor for some selfish purpose.  In that Hebrews 11:6 verse, it tells us that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Is that not enough?  So many other passages confirm that principle of His benevolence.

In Philippians 2:12-13 there are some words of great encouragement: “Cultivate your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.”

Another translation says, “Work out your own salvation” and more closely identifies this as an ongoing process. Our faith that is pleasing to God connects with the Spirit of God living in us and He, then, “restores our soul and leads us in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake,” as Psalm 23:3 says.

And I close with this reminder from 2 Corinthians 1:20: “For all the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God by us.”

The faith that pleases God is one that believes God is who He claims to be and that He honors all of His promises.

All emboldened Scripture is added for emphasis.

The pre-trib rapture folks and the New Age’rs are going to be deceived!

Read the false rapture/alien invasion prophecies from Jesus.

Here is an excerpt from one of the warnings…..

“They shall come at a terrible time in the earth and at a time when many feel hopeless and in great despair, at a time when many think that they will escape such terrible times.

Through vast mind control techniques, they will gain control over the minds of many! The curious and the spiritually weak listen and many of them will obey the commands and they will willingly go and enter into these ships. And, many, who believe what is called the “early-out rapture” will believe that these ships are of Me; for their thinking is twisted and they will fall for the great mind control, which will come at them from many directions.

Many televangelists will be used, and preachers will be used, as mind controlled stooges at the hands of Satan and these very evil creatures; and these preachers, and even certain prophets, will trumpet the arrival of Jesus for His people.

Great lies, storms of lies, will beat down on the people; and such lies will seduce the weak, as great numbers, even millions upon millions of people the world over, will agree to enter into these ships.”

      raptureready folks,

Do not use l Thessalonians 4: 13 – 18 any more to show the rapture unless you can show this article to be in error.

      I Thessalonians 4:13- 18

13 “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are
asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others, which have no hope.”

Paul states plainly the Saints are asleep in their graves and not alive in heaven, thus no
Rapture has occurred at this point.

14 “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in
Jesus will God bring with him.”

Now this does not clearly say God the Father is sending the Saints with Jesus from heaven but this much is clear, the Saints are asleep and Christ is to bring them with Him. All this tells us is they are asleep and Jesus will bring them with Him. We must read further to find where Christ, once He calls them from their graves, is bringing those that sleep in Him back to heaven. Christ and the Apostles referred to the dead as being asleep in their graves so before the Saints are brought to Christ the Saints were dead in their graves.

15 “For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and
remain unto the Coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.”

This also is very clear and qualifies verse 14; those alive at the Coming of the Lord will not prevent or come before those that are asleep in their graves.

Paul is describing the “Coming of the Lord”, in other scripture the coming of the Lord is just that; Jesus Christ is COMING back to earth.

16 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of
the archangel, and with The Trump of God: and the dead in Christ
      shall rise first:”

First it says the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven and further states after His descent the dead rise First! This scripture also says He comes with a shout and the voice of the Archangel and The Trump of God.

So we know for certain this is not a secret coming! With the “shout”, the “voice” and the “Trump” all earth will hear and know.

17 “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

As the LORD comes down, we that are alive and have remained “behind” also are caught up together with the dead into the clouds AND we will meet the Lord in the clouds which are in the air.

So with great confidence we can rest assured the dead and those still alive will meet Jesus Christ is the clouds which are in the air. And the last part of this scripture contains the Hope we all wait for: “So shall we ever be with the Lord.”

OH OH we must look elsewhere for scriptures telling us after the resurrection from the dead Christ returns back to heaven with the Saints because these scriptures only proclaim Where ever Christ will be — we shall ‘ever’ be with Him,.

Verse 17 does not reveal the destination or place to which Christ will bring the Saints, only the fact where ever Jesus Christ is from then on the Saints will be with Christ.

There is not one mention of heaven in these scriptures.

WOW I can not make these scriptures to give even a hint of a rapture back to heaven for the Saints of God.

Any thing added to the Words spoken by Paul in First Thessalonians 4: 13 -18, are your words not God’s. You must look elsewhere for a rapture as it is no where to be found in these scriptures. The First Resurrection is clearly shown but not a rapture.

18 “Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

Only something that has no evidence can claim a belief based on faith. The biblical claim has no evidence at all. But there is shed loads of evidence proving the biblical deity and the Jesus archetype, were both allegorical inventions of ancient Egypt. There are many versions of the same basic story, Roman/Greek Mithraism being the main European version.

Belief is therefore based on ignorance, denial of the evidence, not on faith. Most of the NT is straight out of the Egyptian book of the dead, word for word in places.

The title of the bibles last book sums it up in it’s title, Revelation. This is the age of information, the only people who need fear things being revealed and made public knowledge, are the liars, the cheaters, the con men, etc.

      1.What is God?

Is God a giant man who once incarnated as his own son 2,000 years ago through the womb of a woman in the Middle East? Certainly not. Is God a man who created everything we see? Wrong again. These stories are just perceptions filtered through the limited human mind. They are not ultimate truths.
      Is God male? No way.
This is an erroneous interpretation by the male ego.
      “God” is the Life Force

In other words, it’s not a human being. It has no gender; it’s not a male. It has no color; it’s not white. It has no size and no container.

That life force, or “God,” is not a giant white man, as we have been told, who can mysteriously incarnate himself through the womb of a virgin of any particular ethnicity. Rather than being historical, these are myths that are merely symbolic for the creation of matter out of spirit.

2.The Christians rely mainly on the four Gospels for the historicity of Jesus. But the original documents of which the books in the New Testament are claimed to be faithful copies are not in existence. There is absolutely no evidence that they ever were in existence.

Jesus himself, it is admitted, did not write a single line. He bad come, according to popular belief, to reveal the will of God—a most important mission indeed, and yet he not only did not put this revelation in writing during his lifetime, and with his own hand, which it is natural to suppose that a divine teacher, expressly come from heaven, would have done, but he left this all-important duty to anonymous chroniclers, who, naturally, made enough mistakes to split up Christendom into innumerable factions.

It is worth a moment’s pause to think of the persecutions, the cruel wars, and the centuries of hatred and bitterness which would have been spared our unfortunate humanity, if Jesus himself had written down his message in the clearest and plainest manner, instead of leaving it to his supposed disciples to publish it to the world, when he could no longer correct their mistakes.

Moreover, not only did Jesus not write himself, but he has not even taken any pains to preserve the writings of his “apostles.” It is well known that the original manuscripts, if there were any, are nowhere to be found. This is a grave matter. We have only supposed copies of supposed original manuscripts. Who copied them? When were they copied? How can we be sure that these copies are reliable? And why are there thousands upon thousands of various readings in these numerous supposed copies?

What means have we of deciding which version or reading to accept? Is it possible that as the result of Jesus’ advent into our world, we have only a basketful of nameless and dateless copies and documents? Is it conceivable, I ask, that a God would send his Son to us, and then leave us to wander through a pile of dusty manuscripts to find out why He sent His Son, and what He taught when on earth?

The only answer the Christian church can give to this question is that the original writings were purposely allowed to perish. When a precious document containing the testament of Almighty God, and inscribed for an eternal purpose by the Holy Ghost, disappears altogether there is absolutely no other way of accounting for its disappearance than by saying, as we have suggested, that its divine author must have intentionally withdrawn it from circulation.

“God moves in a mysterious way” is the last resort of the believer. This is the one argument which is left to theology to fight science with. Unfortunately it is an argument which would prove every cult and “ism” under the heavens true. The Mohammedan, the Mazdaian, and the Pagan may also fall back upon faith. There is nothing which faith can not cover up from the light. But if a faith which ignores evidence be not a superstition, what then is superstition?

I wonder if the Catholic Church, which pretends to believe— and which derives quite an income from the belief—that God has miraculously preserved the wood of the cross, the Holy Sepulcher, in Jerusalem, the coat of Jesus, and quite a number of other mementos, can explain why the original manuscripts were lost. I have a suspicion that there were no “original” manuscripts. I am not sure of this, of course, but if nails, bones and holy places could be miraculously preserved, why not also manuscripts? It is reasonable to suppose that the Deity would not have permitted the most important documents containing His Revelation to drop into some hole and disappear, or to be gnawed into dust by the insects, after having had them written by special inspiration.

Again, when these documents, such as we find them, are examined, it will be observed that, even in the most elementary intelligence which they pretend to furnish, they are hopelessly at variance with one another. It is, for example, utterly impossible to reconcile Matthew’s genealogy of Jesus with the one given by Luke.

3.Evidently this notion of mass global genocide appeals to many, as they prepare for the “Lord’s return” or “Second Coming.”

      • Firstly, there is little evidence that Jesus Christ was ever on Earth during a “First Coming,” so a Second Coming is highly unlikely.

      • Secondly, although various of the many views of the “Rapture,” “Tribulation” and “Second Coming” use different biblical verses, let us look more closely at some scripture used to create the Christian eschatology or end-of-the-world scenario.

One of the most common scriptures used for “proof” of “the Tribulation,” which will supposedly accompany Jesus’s return, is Matthew 24 (3, 29-34), the relevant parts of which are translated in the King James Bible, favored by evangelicals, as follows:

And as [Jesus] sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?…

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer [is] nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Exciting stuff, particularly for those who lead dull or traumatic lives and who may not wish to live any longer.

However, let us look more closely at the most germane language here.

      Coming or presence?

At Matthew 24:3, we read about the “coming” and “end of the world.”

But is that really what is meant by the writer(s) of these passages? The Greek word translated here as “coming,” as in Jesus’s “Second Coming,” is παρουσία or parousia, which also denotes “presence.”

According to The Oxford Classical Greek Dictionary, ousia means:

“being, essence, substance; property,” while para means: “near; beside, along;… towards; during; beyond, except; contrary to, against, in comparison with;… from alongside of, from;… beside, near, in the presence of; according to.”

As we can see, there is not necessarily a sense of future coming in this combined word, which could mean, among others, “in the presence of a being.”

In reality, it may be that the original biblical writers meant parousia as a current and everlasting divine presence, not the purported future coming of a physical man.

Another question we may then ask is why Christians need Jesus in the physical form, in any event? The parousia is now, as believers demonstrate every time they speak of Jesus in the present tense and pray to him.

End of the world or completion of an age?

Furthermore, the Greek words for “end of the world,” συντέλεια τοῦ αἰῶνος, could also be translated as “completion of the age.”

Hence, the phrase would refer to a period of time, rather than a physical destruction of the earth itself, although, of course, the passages that follow do depict a dramatic destruction.

However, this sort of “apocalyptic” thought represents a genre fairly popular at the time this passage was written, as well as beforehand, as in the Old Testament book of Daniel, which contains similar thought, as do various Jewish intertestamental and apocryphal texts.

Indeed, several other religions have their end-times scenarios also, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam and Zoroastrianism. Many of these concepts are pre-Christian and can be found in Egyptian, Greek and Roman mythology as well. Obviously, not all or even any of these notions may be true.

Over the centuries and even in pre-Christian times, therefore, there have been countless “endtimes predictions,” which have been as successful as palm reading.

There are many other such scriptures used by the biblically obsessed to determine the future, including some in the books of Isaiah and Daniel, at Matthew 25 and in the purportedly prophetic book of Revelation, as well as in the epistles to the Thessalonians, Timothy and Titus.

Moreover, for hundreds of years people have been interpreting these “predictions” as referring to their own times. Indeed, some of the biblical verses (Mt 16:27-28; 1 Th 4:15-17) appear to be referring to Jesus’s audience of the time, as if it he would appear “soon,” within the time of their own “generation.”

Yet, he did not return, and,

“soon really seems to be a long time.”

      Prophecy or blueprint for disaster?

Exegesis of texts aside, it is unwise to base one’s worldview on ancient scriptures that have been claimed to be predicting the events of the day in practically every generation since Jesus’s alleged advent.

It is likewise perilous to contribute to such unwarranted catastrophic thinking that may indeed exacerbate a situation that truly is degenerating, i.e., the general state of the planet. Then there is the enormous personal toll this sort of thinking has taken on thousands if not millions of people over the past couple of millennia.

If past experience is any indication, all those folks who have sold their belongings and are joining Camping for the Rapture will find themselves still on planet Earth with egg on their faces.

        Excellent reply Truthseeker007…

        The 2nd coming…??

Christians say that Jesus is the Word.. and the Word as there in the Beginning or Creation…
and Christians say he was the 4th being in the Babylonian furnace with Meshach and his buddies… Then he popped out of the Mary’s womb circa 4 bc..

Am I missing something or does 4 bc make that the 3rd coming already?

Ignoring the old testament lies Christians tell, Jesus showed up in 4BC.. was murdered, died, buried…

Then he came out of the grave, showed up on the road to Emmaus — Wouldn’t that have been his 2nd coming?

Then he showed up and blinded Paul.. wouldn’t that be the 3rd coming?

And he sat around with John on Patmos… making that the 4th coming…

What the hell are the Xtians waiting for?

        ********************************************

Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith … we need believing people.

Thanks Ghost!! LOL very good point Ghost!! It is also interesting to note that Perhaps the second coming motif is merely relating the idea that there’s a distance of time between the resurrection of the sun at the solstice and the full dominance of light after the equinox. The concept was Zoroastrian before it was Christian. So we see this theme also played out in the context of the “Great Year” – a first coming where darkness is still on the scene but then another final battle later between the “sons of light and the sons of darkness” where the darkness is fully defeated – this applying to both the physical light of the year as well as human awareness (Chakras / Stations of Mithra) during the “Great Year”.

So the “Age of Pisces” received a new solar personification hero(Jesus) in this hybridizing attempt which utilizes many of the former solar personification hero characters from the former age (Mithra and Moses / Pagan Aries and Judean Aries). The end of the book of Revelation spells out the intent of the writer very clearly by harping on the number 12 over and over again for a few paragraphs and then going straight into giving the “twelve jewels” in reverse order symbolizing precession. Once again, Mithra was thought to be responsible for precession. If precession runs around from Aries back to Aries, well then Mithra / Aries is the “alpha and omega” of the precession. We see the mythic imagery of a “Lamb” with horns referring to itself as “alpha and omega” in Revelation. This seems to be one of the pre-Christian aspects of the story that were later attributed to the character of Jesus (Pisces) during the hybridization.

Truth seeker I have a question. Buddhism is not the worship of a god. How can they have a rapture? I have only found one sight that really teaches Buddhism beliefs. Can you open my eyes before another veil is covering them?

“in the beginning there was the word”…….. A very famous word right. So famous it was not the first interpretation of it. The Emerald Tablets of THOTH. The first written control of a chosen by god. It said it better.

Know ye, O Thoth, in the beginning
          there was VOID and nothingness,
          a timeless, spaceless, nothingness.
And into the nothingness came a thought,
          purposeful, all-pervading,
          and It filled the VOID.
There existed no matter, only force,
a movement, a vortex, or vibration
          of the purposeful thought
          that filled the VOID

          More poetic…

The interpretation of god as a man is not something to stroke the male ego…

It is because of symbolism…..Man holds power of the physical body. More physical strength that a woman. That is not something that demeans any… It is a fact…So when talking about the most powerful idea of all time one must acknowledge man’s (jews) dominion over all things on this planet. And it is man’s image that comes to mind when thinking of strenght…

If we were talking about nurturing we would talk about a women…Like in Mother Earth that provides the life of all living things on this planet. Another version of god but you do not hear men complaining about it.

They are using false propaganda to separate us.. Creating a war of attention between men and women helps isolate, combined with the race hate to further suppress and blame the white United States Citizen male for all of the jews laws and order both here and across the seas, through out the history of the world, both past and future………..

I can mostly agree with that truthuncovered. Maybe it should be stated that the Christian,Muslem and Judeism religions have been used to make the feminine inferior to the masculine. Yes it should be ballenced. Right now the Masculine dominates the Femine due to the three main religions control of the world. At one time it was the femine that dominated over the masculine. What needs to happen is a ballence of both masculine and feminine. A ballence of Yin and Yang.

          PITI
“Piti” is ‘rapture’ or the feeling of full contentment resulting from the peace of mind achieved in Samadhi. It occurs to everyone who practices meditation properly. Even at the very beginning of one’s meditation practice peace of mind is attained and some manifestation of rapture occurs, for example, feeling as if small ants or insects are creeping over the face or feeling a lightness in the body, etc. Piti can happen in many forms and it can manifest itself in different or similar fashions to various meditators. The different forms of manifestation depend upon each person’s accumulated merit which, of course, is not equal. There are five different forms of Piti:

          A) Khuddaka-piti——- Minor rapture

          B) Khanika-piti———–Momentary or instantaneous joy

          C) Okkantika-piti——–Showering joy or flow of joy

          D) Ubbenga-piti———-Uplifting joy or transporting rapture

          E) Pharana-piti———–Suffusing joy or all-pervading rapture

          A) Khuddaka-piti—Minor rapture includes symptoms such as hairs standing on end (sometimes all over the body, sometimes only on the head) or tears flowing, sometimes in copious amounts. This form of piti occurs often but not for long durations. Some meditators will experience this form of piti only on rare occasions, others will experience it regularly, while some will not experience this form at all.

          B) Khanika-piti—Momentary joy. This form of rapture occurs in a moment, like the flash of a slight shock of electricity, sometimes like the gentle tickle of small insects crawling over the face, or like cobwebs brushing the face. Sometimes the body jerks, or the backbone jolts, or the rapid rushing of the blood through the veins will be felt. This piti is experienced by every meditator, but in different ways.

          C) Okkantika-piti—The showering, or flood of joy. Being more thrilling than khanika-piti, it is stronger than a slight shock of electricity. It is more like waves breaking on the seashore. Sometimes it is like sailing on the ocean, being tossed by the waves, and the body is rocked repeatedly. This kind of piti may annoy the meditator since it feels like the ground or the building is moving. Many people believe that the feeling of rapture must be blissful, but this is not true for all kinds of piti. Only the last form of rapture is obviously blissful.

          D) Ubbenga-piti—Uplifting joy or transporting rapture. This form of rapture makes the mind fluffy; sometimes it causes unintentional acts like exclamations and sometimes it lifts the body off the floor. This still occurs to meditators of current times both in Thailand and in other countries. A strong rapture of this kind is able to lift the body and transport it in the air, like the young daughter of a noble family in the Sri Lankan village of Vattakama. The story, as reported in the Path of Purity, is related here for those not familiar with this event:
