First Apostolic Epistle of St. Peter Pt2 begins with true Christian Identity, it is the real “who are we” found in scripture. It is the Apostle Peter, in his later years; some time before his own martyrdom that he moves into the arena of bringing forth these truths. Truths of a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people.

Furthermore, Peter reminds us all and those he was writing at the time that they were to show forth the praises of him; our Lord who called us out of darkness and into his light. We were not a people of God, but now we are. We had not obtained mercy, but now we have. These are words to strengthen a people that living amidst the whoredoms and sins of the Roman empire were to find persecution against them.
