This is the warning that the Holy Spirit gives about the false prophets and the people who live in the End Times.
The Word of God declares that the world would be in the grip of Satan in the End Times (1 Jn. 5:19-20). In these coming distressing times this world will be filled with people who would indulge in the love of pleasures, inordinate desires and other evils and weighed down by the worries of life (2 Tim. 3:1-5, Lk. 21:34-35).
Since they reject and scoff at the Word of God, they would call evil what God teaches as good and good what God teaches as evil (Is. 5:20-24). The cry that rises in different parts of the world to make same sex marriages legal is an example for this. This world would only like teaching that suits their own desires and is pleasing to them. The Word of God warns us that they will turn away from listening to the Truth (the Word of God) and would listen to those who speak worldly things (1 Jn. 4:1-6).
The Word of God is warning us that the false prophets are the scholars who give teaching that this world wants to listen. But since they are trying to conform to this world, they will not be able to discern the Will God – what is good, pleasing and perfect in the sight of God (Rom. 12:2). They do not realize that though whatever they say and do is prized by the world, it is an abomination to God (Lk. 16:15). By making themselves friends of this world they make themselves enemies of God (Jam. 4:4), because they have become spokespersons of philosophies that do not agree with Jesus Christ (Col. 2:8). The Holy Spirit warns that they are the cruel wolves that tear the sheep of God apart and distort the Word of God (Acts 20:28-30, Eze. 22:27).
This is a Sign of the Times!
May God give us the gift to discern the teachers who appear to be sheep but speak like the serpent! (Rev. 2:2)
