'Blood Moons' A Special Message to America? - 'Therefore, Let Us Not Sleep, As Do Others; But Let Us Watch & Be Sober'

While most of the U.S. is asleep Monday night, an astronomical phenomenon some mark as a sign of God’s judgment will blaze uniquely across the skies of North America.
The first of four, consecutive, total lunar eclipses, which cause a roughly hour-long reddening of the moon known as a “Blood Moon,” will become visible beginning at 12:53 a.m. ET on Tuesday, April 15.
Tuesday’s blood moon is part of a “tetrad,” a set of complete and consecutive lunar eclipses that will continue in roughly six-month intervals until October 2015.
Some consider it nothing more than an alignment of the heavens, but others are watching much more closely, because of the alignment with biblical prophecy.
Some, such as Pastor Mark Biltz, author of “Blood Moons: Decoding the Imminent Heavenly Signs,” have noticed each of the tetrad’s blood moons fall on Jewish holidays through this year and next.
“We are on the verge of witnessing something historic,” said Biltz, who discovered the blood moons phenomenon in 2007. “This has happened only eight times over the last 2,000 years! And the last two times these occurred on the Jewish holidays there was a war in the Middle East regarding the nation of Israel. These are patterns and historical facts that cannot be disregarded. The Jewish Talmud records that total lunar eclipses are indicators or omens for the nation of Israel.”
Bestselling author and televangelist Pastor John Hagee claims the four blood moons that will soon appear in the skies over America are evidence of a future “world-shaking event.”
And author Doug Drake noted that for sleeping Americans, the appearance of the blood moons over our skies may have special significance.
“Maybe the message is for us ‘sleepers’ here in the United States,” Drake wrote in a blog post. “We have turned from our faith in the God of Bible. Maybe He has a message for us; or maybe not.”
Drake recognized the words of the Bible’s 1 Thessalonians 5 speak directly to the signs of the times and those who “sleep” while God is moving:
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken be drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore, comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. (1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 KJV).

So now the blood moon has been and gone, I’m guessing god has sucked you up into the sky in your rapture… No? Oh dear, never mind you get to keep your perfect 100% track record of being 100% wrong, 100% of the time.
Mark Biltz played fast and loose with the data to force-fit it into a pattern. And it should come as no surprise that there’s a connection between full moons and Jewish holidays, since the religious calendar is lunar.
But there is no “blood-moon” or “tetrad” prophecy in the Bible. Sure, part of the signs of the end include “the moon turning to blood”, but this is always paired with the sun turning black. This is clearly NOT an eclipse, but more likely due to massive volcanic eruptions or other atmospheric disturbances that can block out both bodies at the same time.
There is no sign required for the Rapture, and beware of the Hebrew Roots Movement which keeps trying to make prophecies for Israel apply to the church.
Agree. As it always goes, some Christian writes a book that’s sensational which, in fact, has absolutely zero exact scriptural reference to support their flavor-of-the-month theory, and the whole of Christianity gets tarred with the fallout of tales and bad Bible exegesis. This causes people to lash out against Christians, as if we all subscribe to any and all nonsense that comes down the pike in the name of Christ, but, really, the inventions of men. I know these people don’t represent me. I look for Jesus Christ to return, in faith, not knowing when, and none of the fools out there setting dates know when. Further, these “tetrads” are not the day of the Lord blood moon event, and it’s even obvious: if a tetrad were what the prophecies refer to, then one must explain all previous tetrads not having anything to do with the day of the Lord. What naturally occurs with some regularity, albeit infrequently, is not a sign, a sign something unique and supernatural in quality, such as the virgin birth and other things miraculous, or some event only the Lord could have foreknowledge of and prophesied, often some event that would seem unlikely, such as the rebirth of Israel. What even atheists at NASA could predict from the skies, throughout the millennia, is not a sign. The Bible is even clear it’s not an eclipse, rather prophecy stating the sun and the stars going dark, also, in the day of the Lord, as well as this being in the context of other tribulation events which have not yet happened (Isa. 13:10, Joel 2:10, Matt. 24:29, Rev. 6:12). We are not even to be looking for signs in the sky of the Lord’s return, rather to be ready at all times, nobody knowing when: this is what the Bible teaches.
It’s very unfortunate how Christianity gets reduced to a three ring circus that’s not even in the word of God, the Bible, and no Christian should be adding to the word of God to sell books. This is evil and explicitly forbidden in scripture, to pretend to speak for the Lord when He has not spoken. And shame rather be on any and all who would bring shame to Jesus Christ and truth by false prophecy.

You do realise the moon can’t turn red if the sun turns black, don’t you? The moon has no light of it’s own, if the sun goes out, so will the moon.

No need to get snarky about it, I’m not a holy roller but even I can see the persecution of Christians coming from folks such as yourself. If you don’t believe in prophecy that’s your business, but there is no need to attack Christians for their beliefs.

Personally, I am familiar with this prophecy but tonight my feeling it will simply be a celestial event and nothing more…
