Five Similarities & Differences Between the King of Babylon in Daniel 3 & the Pope in Revelation 17
When asked about the end of the world, Christ said to understand the book of Daniel. Revelation had not yet been written, but a blessing is pronounced on those who read and understand the Revelation.
#1. There is a similarity of context for both Daniel and Revelation and both Daniel and John were in captivity when those books begin. Is that an omen for us?
#2. Daniel 3 is about the king of Babylon and Revelation 17:5 is about the king of spiritual Babylon.
#3. Both are wealthy with abundance of gold. Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold 60 cubits (90′?) and the king of spiritual Babylon is depicted as a harlot “decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand. It seems strange that every nation south of the US was colonized by Catholicism while the US was Protestant, and yet capitalism is somehow responsible. Who is really to blame for the poverty of Catholic nations?
#4. The king of Babylon summoned his realm to worship the golden image that represented him. The pope expects those in his presence to bow to him.
#5. The king of Babylon sentenced those who would not bow to a fiery furnace in Daniel 3. Conservative historians says 50-100 million were martyred during the Dark Ages of papal supremacy, “drunken with the blood of saints,” Revelation 17:6.
Now we look at similarities or contrasts.
#1. Babylon was the leading empire then, but the Vatican’s power is worldwide now. Revelation 17:15.
#2. Ancient Babylon was primarily a secular kingdom; the Vatican is primarily religious, but mixed with governmental force: ”with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication.” Rev 17:2.
#3. The king of Babylon was converted by seeing the Son of God in Daniel 3:25. The pope claims to be the Vicar of Christ, but inspite of charisma, Revelation 17:5 shows the papacy as a false system.
#4. The king of ancient Babylon extoled the true God in Daniel 3:28,29. The pope worships Lucifer, the devil, as shown here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Jc61xBfcGI&feature=youtu.be This fits the meaning of “Vatican” as divining serpent.
#5. God arranged for the king of Babylon to have Daniel and friends as wise counselors. In this sense, God infiltrated Babylon’s government. In contrast, the papacy has infiltrated DC which is surrounded by Mary land and Catholic influence that now has a majority of Supreme Court Justices. Rome has also infiltrated Protestant Churches by attractive women getting pastors into an affair and effectually muting their witness against Catholicism or they would be exposed. “Mother of harlots,” Revelation 17:5.

Some scholars see timing significance in the Hebrew torah. Just as Christ died as the Passover lamb at Passover, we might expect Him to come in a year of jubilee which was a time when captives were freed and land returned to the original owner, described in Leviticus 25.
We don’t hear much about the biblical jubilee, but it was the 50th year after 7 “weeks” of years. 7 x 7 = 49, but the 50th year was the first year in the next sequence so they were 49 years apart.
The 70 weeks of years (490) in Daniel 9:24 spanned 10 jubilees with a jubilee event at the beginning with liberty so Israelites left Persia. Christ also proclaimed liberty to captives and “the acceptable year,” (jubilee) Isaiah 61:1,2.
But in 1,000 years of 20 jubilees (20 x 49), there were 20 extra years. We will put these time periods together shortly.
The last time period to consider is a 7-year ending, which many scholars recognize, like Joseph’s 7 years of famine, 7 years for the king of Babylon to be humbled in Daniel 4, and 7 days for Jericho to fall, a type of Babylon, Rev 18:4.
There are also two 3 1/2 year periods–1st in Rev 11:3 as God gives His side power for 1260 days; They have power to bring plagues, vs 6. Then the beast ascends with the intent to overcome and kill them (verse 7). That beast is given power 42 months, Rev 13:5. This is about the New World Order to be discussed later.

Based on this, I believe the 6,000 years ended in 2000 AD as Sir Isaac Newton’s chronology also supports. Ussher’s Chronology supports 6,000 years in 1996 +/- 4 years, so all of this is compatible with 2000 AD.
The 1,000 years span 20 jubilees (980 years) which begin at the 2nd coming, but let’s not forget the 20 extra years before those 20 jubilees begin (when captives are set free and God gets His land back.) The expression 20/20 for perfect vision could also refer to 2020 when we see Christ.
And with a 7-year ending, we should not be surprised if something huge initiates the end-times in 2014.
The government shutdown (October 7, 2013) supports this. It was the Feast of Trumpets
and the 1st trumpet in Revelation 8:7 (when “all green grass was burnt up”) is probably the economy, “for as the flower of the grass, so shall the rich man fade,” James 1:9-11 KJV.
Just as trumpets can be signals, October 7 could be a signal or omen for the real deal in 2014.
