So This Is How The End Begins? CDC Bringing Americans With Ebola Back To U.S.

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A retrofitted private jet is making its way to the United States on Friday with two Americans who have been infected with the Ebola virus in West Africa. Both individuals are under emergency medical evacuation orders.
Fort Worth doctor Kent Brantly was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Fort Worth before moving to Africa. The congregation has kept in touch with him and his family. They are now praying for his healing.
The private plane was sent to Liberia to pick up Brantly and another aid worker who have been diagnosed with Ebola. They are in grave condition, but said to be stable. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention retrofitted a business jet with an isolation pod and medical equipment, in an attempt to retrieve the two Americans and bring them back to the U.S. for aggressive treatment.
At least one of the patients will be taken to a highly secured section of Emory University Hospital, near the CDC’s headquarters. The facility has an isolation unit which is equipped to deal with this type of infection. Hospital officials will not confirm when that patient is scheduled to arrive.
A spokesperson for the CDC said that she was not aware of any Ebola patient being treated in the U.S. before.
Brantly is an Abilene Christian University alum. “Kent’s the kind of guy who would weigh the benefits versus the risks and try to take himself out of the equation,” said university official Gary Green. “He’d be considering ‘What do I bring to the table? Is it going to be so much that the risk is worth it, because I can benefit so many people.’ And that’s just the way he is. That’s the kind of person he is in his heart.”
“We need more people like that,” added school official Chris Flanders. “Maybe this situation here can serve to illuminate opportunities that exist all around us, to step out of our comfort zones and, sometimes, to even step into situations of great danger in order to bless other people. That’s what his example is, it seems to me, is teaching all of us.”
In a statement, Brantly’s wife said that she and their children — ages 3 and 5 — are in Texas and have shown no symptoms of the disease.

LOL you Christians are hilarious. God creates Ebola, Christians pray to god to uncreate it. When a doctor cures them you thank god, not the doctor, how ungrateful can you get.
I would seriously question the motives of infected people being flown into a disease free area. Ebola is a very aggressive acute disease with no easy cure. Basically all that can be done is body fluid replacement and antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infections and hope your body can produce it’s own antiviral-bodies before it kills you. The fact these two doctors allowed it, says way more about them than their working in Liberia.
In case you Americans have forgotten Libera is the country all the American Africans went back to from the aftermath of the TV series called ‘Roots’. It’s an African/American colony and rife with gun crimes, wanton murder, rape, injustice and overrun with diseases. Lots of African Americans have relatives there.

You church people drive me effin nuts! Do you really think you can pray his ebola away? I’m not sure who hired this private jet to pick him up, but all involved in this scheme should be thrown in jail for putting Americans in harms way!
He knowingly walked straight into the situation, and WE are not responsible for HIS actions, leave him there!

I agree, the life of a doctor is not of equal value to an entire continent of people. They should have been treated where they were. It’s a huge risk to millions of lives, Vls the slim hope of saving 2.

Couldnt agree with you more, I wrote a opinion here titled “who the hell invited Ebola to the US anyway”
my story criticizes the action of this Christian group called Samaritan, to be so selfish in their concern for one of their own that they would blindly ignore the risks of exposing millions to a disease never before encounterd here.
but as you can see. that story was buried really quick by some of the editors. not because it wasn’t newsworthy but because the religious faction that took over BIN is in control of what is newsworthy or not…. and I’m not at all comfortable with that
