The Errors of the (Western) "Beast of the Earth" & the Eastern ("Beast of the Sea")
The fundamental error of Eastern civilization, on the other hand, is a similar glorification and idolatrization of the “beast of the sea” consciousness of the “self” (see Revelations 13:1 & the opening passages of the Second Meditation of Descartes) as the ultimate determiner of absolute Truth; J. Krishnamurti, for example, considering thought (or the consciousness of the ‘thinker’) as the very origin of the duality; when, in fact, that origin is prior to the existence of the ‘thinker’ in the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil”/consciousness of the “self”.
