Actually, your first paragraph refers to the Jews and the law given to them and not Christianity, we were never partakers of the law. There are some allegories in the bible but there are other parts that are literal. The mention of Jonah if one has faith in the word they will say it is literal and another will see it as an allegory and a sign of a future act of the messiah. Yet when one reads the epistles and Paul defines “love”, it is literal, much of the new testament, not including the OT accounts of Christ earthly ministry are pretty literal.
As for the wife, you must again go to Paul and his epistles seeing he is the apostle of the gentiles, he categorically identifies his comments on women as his own and having not come from God. So your assertions are made without a clear understanding of rightly dividing, as do most religious and none religious do, they seem to homogenize the entire bible as one message, yet it isn’t.

There are many men like HotFlash who are so afraid of women, so convinced that God made them as witches with mystical power over men, that they run around screaming “Unclean!” if a woman opens her mouth to speak. No, you’re reiterating what YOU think it means, without adequate study. I’ve done plenty of study on this matter, and of hierarchy in the church in general, even writing a book about it. Everybody thinks they know “what the Bible teaches”, but few actually do the study themselves.
Once again, YOU are not God, and if you claim to follow Jesus, do what He did: set privilege aside and serve others in humility. You cannot do that while retaining privilege on the basis of the flesh. Jesus commanded, “NOT SO AMONG YOU” and left no loopholes just for the genetalia you were born with.

Paul wrote in Phil. 2:5-11 that Jesus set aside his privileges as God to become the lowest of humans. He washed his disciples’ feet and told them that they must do the same.

The clear teaching of scripture is that even if you think you are given privileges (even just because you were born with male genitalia!), you must GIVE IT UP. That’s what Jesus did. That’s what Paul did.

But you aren’t interested in depth or patience, so here’s the quick, simple response:
1. Paul’s statement must be taken in the context of FALSE TEACHING. This is undeniably the purpose of the whole letter and the specific situation Paul is addressing.
2. The Greek makes it clear that this is “a woman”, not all women, and that this woman is PRESENTLY in sin.
3. The point is about DECEPTION, not something inherently wrong with all women that is not also wrong with all men. Elsewhere this same Paul expressed his concern that the people at Corinth had been deceived “like Eve”.
4. Paul often commended women for teaching and working alongside him, no differently than the men.
The courier chosen to deliver and read the book of Romans was Phoebe, a woman. Priscilla taught Apollos. A church met in the home of a woman named Chloe, as also for Lydia. Phoebe was even called a “diaconos”, the male form of the word, the same as for any man. So his prohibition in this ONE case cannot be taken as the norm.

Regarding the quick rebuttal you referenced, most of it doesn’t even apply to the points I raised from the NT. But even the ones that do, your argument doesn’t hold water. For example, regarding point 17 “The “plain reading” of scripture says women can’t teach men”, your “rebuttal”, if one can call it that, is that you cite the plain reading of other scriptures like plucking out your eye if you sin and since Jesus didn’t really mean you should literally pluck out your eye, then that proves that Paul didn’t mean woman shouldn’t teach when he said “I suffer not a woman to teach”.

To be clear, and for the record, I do believe in women prophets because that is what the word says, i.e. Luke 2:36.
Prophesying is one thing, teaching is another. And it is the latter that the Word says women are not to do—case closed. It’s pretty simple and straightforward. But if you want to, like HumanBeing, claim up is down and down is up when trying to explain the quote from Paul about women not teaching purporting that Paul didn’t mean that at all, then that is your business. But it would profit you nothing. For nothing is gained with futile gymnastics, swimming against the tide of the Word. No matter how you cut it, no matter how you slice it, no matter how you dice it, there is a bias towards men in the Bible. From Solomon with his 700 wives and 300 concubines in the Old Testament, to Paul’s New Testament teachings, to the gender count of the 12 Apostles, and to the rest of the OT.

The word translated “children” in this verse in Isaiah, is a plural masculine participle of the verb “to glean,” “abuse,” “practice.” It is translated “glean” in Leviticus 19:10, Deuteronomy 24:21, Judges 20:45, and Jeremiah 6:9. The word has no translation such as “children” anywhere else in the Bible, and it occurs 21 times. Another word altogether is used for “children,” and “child,” in verses 4 and 5 of this same chapter; the sense seems to have been fixed by the supposed context, to correspond with “women.”
As to the word translated “women”: Two words, without the rabbinical vowel “points,” are exactly alike. One is pronounced nosh-im and the other na-shim. In appearance the only difference is a slight mark under the first letter of the Hebrew word na-shim. Not true. The Book of Revelation speaks of future events John saw and he saw two prophets in chapter 11.
Regarding “There are NO female prophets”, one only has to go to Luke 2:36 to see that there is such a thing as a prophetess.

I’ve never heard of Glenda Jackson until now. I can’t say that I believe all that she said and I also can’t say that I don’t. It’s hard to trust anyone in today’s world, but I do trust my faith in the Lord. I do believe we are living in difficult times and we need to turn to God and pray and ask him to help us. We can’t stop Ebola or any other horrible thing that might come our way unless we pray and ask God for his help. He is the only one who can. If Glenda speaks the truth then she is truly blessed, but if she is lying and only doing this for money then I will let God be her judge.
We really shouldn’t be insulting each other and making fun of each other. What good does that do? We need to unite and fight against evil. As far as I am concerned the Devil is working up storm. He is after all the good people and wants them to go against God. And if you doubt that we are living closer to the end of time then please read Revelations in the Bible. The Bible may have been written by men, but God is the Author. All that is written has to happen and already is. He warned us that there will be signs and they are here. She’s no prophet. I can’t find any of the claimed predictions Lisa cites…there’s nothing about the attempted Reagan assassination anywhere. Prophets tell the truth and have lousy lives because nobody believes them. This woman doesn’t seem to be like the prophets of old….more like profit than prophet.
Even the bio of her official ministry says Jesus didn’t appear to her until 2007 and it makes no mention of the so-called prophecies Lying Lisa mentions above.
