Taking a “mark” is a lot like when Yisra’el was told to eat the pig during the book of Maccabees.

Any passage could be interpreted many ways. That’s why the scriptures tell us explicitly NOT to interpret them. They stand on their own. Interpreting scripture is nothing more than guessing what they mean. I prefer to KNOW what they mean instead.
