The key to the putting the internet under the same regulations that the other telecommunications services have been under since the 1930′s is to keep them regulated as the telecommunications services have been regulated since the 1930′s.
The concept of designating “public utilities” has been a good thing.
Having private companies develop them and/or run them has been a better proposition than having less innovative and wasteful government agencies set up to do it.
The concept has been a tenuous balance that has worked better than having public agencies do it though.
And there have been the public utility boards that give the public the ability to be heard on complaints and pricing.
and the public utility boards are in the end accountable to the people through the elective state legislatures too.
So, it should be a good thing to continue that type of telecommunications industry oversight by regulating the services as public utilities.
But if the FCC starts changing the regulations to different standards than the other telecommunications services, like regulating speech in anyway other than the standards we have been using over the last 70 years plus then we need to impeach the FCC chairman and the commissioners and put people in those positions that will maintain the free speech standards that have been the hallmark of our free enterprising promoting aids that has been telecommunications for the last 70 years plus.
