The early bible literature was written in the days when language was totemic, it is nearly all symbolic with totemic representations. A totem is the description of something else. Eg an Eagle or anything depicted with wings, is representing wisdom, eagles have much better eye sight than us, can fly high and see the bigger picture from all angles in fine detail. Eagles have been used by all cultures independently to represent wisdom, because all eagles have that same attribute. That style was continued through out the bible. Hardly anything about it is literal.

What you say about so much symbolism in the bible is true. I have said it here too, it is remarkably deep, symbolism woven all the way thru it. Days can mean era’s eg, ‘as in my fathers day’. It is not a literal day. And neither is darkness literal, it can mean literarily dark, or dark behaviour. It was calculated by the number of degrees 360, so some days were more than a period of time between midnight to midnight. They also used day to mean daylight, dawn to dusk, night didn’t count at all as part of a day. It is therefore allegorical, a period of time. One such time would be the Aegean apocalypse that created a 300 year dark age, both literarily and in dark behaviour. There is nothing predicted to happen in the bible that didn’t happen during the Aegean apocalypse, the events took place in that exact order. It could well be an historical account of it, rather than a prediction of the future.
