Well i feel sorry for jesus- begging his evil father to not forsake him on the cross- and his evil told him “sorry son- you are SOL”
Although the phrase was actually a line from, I think, psalms, There was a REASON that God “deserted” Jesus..
Fromn the moment He went on the cross, God withdrew His face, so that even Jesus could neither see, nor contact the Father. Had God NOT done this, Christ’s crucifixion and death would have had NO meaning. For, Jesus would have known He would not *really* die, but after His suffering and death He would pass into life and it would all be OK. Of course HE knew this before, and even on the cross HE knew it as a ,matter of faith, but previously He had never needed to depend on Faith, since He KNEW God.
For the three hours on the cross, He DID need faith. Like any of us. In this way He became truly llike US, and then it was finished. This is what He meant by “It is done” right before HE died.
