Superstar Mark Wahlberg Unleashes Blunt Message on Trump-Hating Celebs (Video)
Mark Wahlberg has come a long way from being part of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. Now, the star of “Boogie Nights” and “The Departed” has a message for anti-Trump celebrities.
Wahlberg was being interviewed for veteran news site Task & Purpose in relation to his new movie “Patriots Day.” He was asked about Tinseltown celebs who “lined up to denounce Donald Trump in the months and weeks leading up to Election Day,” according to interviewer Aaron Gell.
Wahlberg didn’t mince words.
“A lot of celebrities did, do, and shouldn’t,” he told the magazine.
“You know, it just goes to show you that people aren’t listening to that anyway,” he added. “They might buy your CD or watch your movie, but you don’t put food on their table. You don’t pay their bills.
“A lot of Hollywood is living in a bubble,” Wahlberg said. “They’re pretty out of touch with the common person, the everyday guy out there providing for their family.
“Me, I’m very aware of the real world. I come from the real world and I exist in the real world,” he explained. “And although I can navigate Hollywood and I love the business and the opportunities it’s afforded me, I also understand what it’s like not to have all that.”
Aside from the quaint notion of buying CDs (who does that anymore? It’s vinyl or streaming nowadays), Wahlberg is spot-on — and it’s clear he’s talking about anti-Trump celebs like Miley Cyrus and Cher.
I will sheepishly admit to liking the acting chops of uber-liberal Leonardo DiCaprio. However, I can never recall asking myself what Leo thinks about climate change policy. That’s OK, though, since he seems perfectly happy to volunteer the information without consulting me.
Why on earth do Hollywood liberals believe that they’re qualified experts to speak on everything under the sun, especially politics? Is it that they have so many people around them who are willing to tell them that every word they say is gospel? Is Hollywood really that sycophantic?
If George Clooney and Matt Damon are told by the yes-men in their entourage that they’re qualified to digress on such issues, it’s time for them to be disabused of that notion. Thankfully, this year’s election seems to have done an awfully good job of that.
