Romach has a good response except that the Church is not here during this time. The great falling away occurs just before the harpadzo or rapture and then the lawless one will be revealed. Those who are left behind, including those within the Church who were part of the falling away will be deluded as the Spirit is taken away and from that point in there will be no restraint in evil. To say that the church is going to go through this time of great judgement requires a lot of figurative interpretation of Scripture. The rapture could occur Biblically either just before the 7 year tribulations or just at the midpoint either one can use Scripture to prove but other interpretations must take Scripture out of context.
* if the “church” is not here there is no practical reason for the revelation of Christ given through the apostle John. The entire bible Gen – Revelation is written to the “church”.
* Israel was not raptured/taken out of Egypt. Israel was taken out of Egypt after the judgements fell on Egypt but not on Israel.
* Paul says that this rapture event takes place at the last trump. John says that there are seven trumpets placing the rapture at or just after the seventh trumpet and then a final pouring out of wrath depicted by seven bowls. what Paul understands by the spirit in a broad stroke way Jesus explains to John in a very tightly road mapped way. Revelation is meant to be a blessing to the church of the end times. a kind of encouragement in our seemingly darkest hour.
* finally the tribulation is cathartic for the church but catastrophic for the world. the gospel is still being preached and martyrs are still being slaughtered all through the tribulation period. taking of the mark will identify you with the kingdom opposed to the kingdom of heaven. Where is the church during the Great trib? in the wilderness of the nations with the shepherd, being passed under His rod of correction.
