We should know how because God won’t do anything without revealing it, Amos 3:7. The next verse is an earthquake encoded as a lion’s roar in Joel 3:16, and that earthquake is also encoded as a knock for His last church. Lukewarm with materialism, it ended in an earthquake about 63 AD, a lesson for Christianity today.

If we look closely at Luke’s wedding parable, we see numerous parallels to the lukewarm church’s message. Both get a knock, both are to open, both get a meal, both need to be dressed with light or eye-salve to see. “Ruler over all that He has” in Luke 12:44 is like “sit with Me on my throne” in Rev 3:21. So the earthquake ending for Laodicea can also be for western Christianity with its focus on money and things..

The earthquake is how judgment comes to us, when we must “open unto Him immediately.” Luke 12:36,37

That passage also says, Blessed is that servant whom his Lord finds watching when he comes.  Watching is protective in three passages, Matthew 24:43; 1Thessalonians 5:1-3 and Revelation 3:3.  But watching derives from the Greek word, Gregoreo, which means be awake. We can’t be awake every night, but Passover was the only night that it was commanded.

Passover was the time of judgment for Egypt, for Christ and for Jerusalem when Titus came in 70 A.D.  As Christ ate the Passover with his disciples he instituted in its place the service that was to be the memorial of his great sacrifice.  If we did so on Passover and then watch and pray, we would be ready for what’s coming.

But there isn’t 9-11 modification of this warning.  But Numbers 9:11 provides for Passover a month later.  For example, if an Israelite took a long trip and couldn’t get back to Jerusalem in time for Passover they were to keep it a month later.  Passover represented judgment and were not excused from judgment.  Christ closing parables all have links to this 9-11 provision.

Another example is “as the days of Noah,” when the flood came in the second spring month.  We may think this just an odd coincidence, but the next parable begins “Then shall two be in the field…” and then means at the same time or as a direct consequence.  Those next several parables all fit the 9-11 provisions. 

Passover was instituted as a statute forever in Leviticus 23.  A close look at Christ words would be better than a dozen sermons from a pastor who says we don’t need to do those Jewish ceremonies.  True, we don’t need the ceremonies, but those appointed times were instituted forever.  Let us watch and pray and be ready then.
